  • The Kelly's

"Thank you for sharing your lovely Sunriver home with us. Our family throughly enjoyed the great pool table and ping pong table. The hot tub was very easy to use and getting to enjoy it while it snowed was so fun! The house was very equipped and clean! We all slept great in the bed cozy beds! Getting to go swimming at Sharc was super exciting! The kids asked to go many times! One evening we all sat around the great dining room table and played cards and enjoyed blondies pizza. We will recommend this house to others and would definitely come again!"

  • Ideal Cabin for Luxury in the Great Outdoors

"My husband and I have stayed at the Dwan's cabin a couple of times and will certainly stay there again when we go to Sun River. The cabin is cozy and comfortable, the furniture attractive, and the art on the walls quite wonderful. The kitchen is well furnished with everything needed to cook even a fancy meal. We went with another couple and appreciated that the layout allowed plenty of space to gather in the downstairs living-dining-cooking area and privacy and separation for the bedroom areas. We didn't need the third bedroom, but its 2 bunk beds would accommodate families with children. The cabin is well located, not too far from the mall, but not so close that there's noise or traffic. The setting, with its pines and large lawn, is peaceful and serene. The Dwans are friendly and helpful hosts, responsive to requests and pleasant to deal with. They're very knowledgeable about the area and gave us useful tips on things to do and places to eat. We chose the cabin the first time because it was a great bargain. We went back because it's also a great place to stay."

  • January Stay

"The two small rooms upstairs were very cold. We were trying to get some heat by keeping the doors open. Also, the Cable Romote downstairs was missing. Towels were still getting dried up when we got there. The house was not very clean. The key lock box is broken, anybody can get the key, you dont need a code."

  • Beauty and solitude

"Hard to believe these places (The Ponderosa and its smaller neighbor, The Red Cedar) aren't booked 365 days a year. They feature the closeness to the amenities of Sunriver (grocery stores, swimming pools, golf courses, equipment rentals, etc.) without Sunriver’s crowds and its dated, cookie-cutter architectural asthetic. Instead, these beautiful, spacious homes sit on an inholding of Forest Service land that hugs the Deschutes River. The nearest Sunriver house is quite a ways upstream. You can’t see it unless you’re standing in the river. Downstream, there’s nothing but river and woods all the way to Bend. Yes, when you stay here, the river feels like it’s yours. Some friends and I discovered these places back in 1998 and we’ve been coming back every May (for the PPP) ever since. Some in our group are quasi regulars during the summer months for family reunions and such. We often have 14 or 15 in The Ponderosa and everybody is comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Lots of common space on the main level, with plenty of windows through which to see the Deschutes. A large deck and patio. A good ping pong table in the garage, which also hosts a second refrigerator/freezer. Beautiful stone fireplace and plenty of dry wood. Lots of well maintained grass for Frisbee and Wiffle ball, etc. Bring your mountain and road bikes. Bring your rafts, canoes and kayaks. Bring your running shoes and hiking boots. After Memorial Day, bring your fishing poles. Bring your sunscreen, your steaks and salmon to barbecue, your favorite books, your teenagers, your parents, whoever and whatever. Everyone will enjoy their time here, and no one will want to leave."
