  • Loved the Location

"We've rented in Sunriver for over 20 years so we've experienced a lot of areas in Sunriver. This location was our favorite in those 20 years. So close to everything but quiet and private. The closest street to the back yard is so seldom used I could sit for an hour on the deck and not see a person or car...midweek that is. Still, I loved the feel of seclusion while being so central to the main mall and shops. The owners are very sweet and helpful. Worked with us on some variables to make it work (much appreciated). House has a nice floor plan and an open great room type central area. Bedrooms are at the ends of the house, separated nicely. Worked nicely for us! The setup allows everyone to hang out, share a game on TV even if you're cooking or eating, or just feel close without being cramped. Deck and hot tub worked very well. BBQ worked well and I love to cook outside. Only thing I missed was wifi--everything else I needed was there for us. Did really really enjoy the quiet and seclusion on the back deck. No direct views of neighbors and few cars/people going by."

  • Beauty and solitude

"Hard to believe these places (The Ponderosa and its smaller neighbor, The Red Cedar) aren't booked 365 days a year. They feature the closeness to the amenities of Sunriver (grocery stores, swimming pools, golf courses, equipment rentals, etc.) without Sunriver’s crowds and its dated, cookie-cutter architectural asthetic. Instead, these beautiful, spacious homes sit on an inholding of Forest Service land that hugs the Deschutes River. The nearest Sunriver house is quite a ways upstream. You can’t see it unless you’re standing in the river. Downstream, there’s nothing but river and woods all the way to Bend. Yes, when you stay here, the river feels like it’s yours. Some friends and I discovered these places back in 1998 and we’ve been coming back every May (for the PPP) ever since. Some in our group are quasi regulars during the summer months for family reunions and such. We often have 14 or 15 in The Ponderosa and everybody is comfortable. Well appointed kitchen. Lots of common space on the main level, with plenty of windows through which to see the Deschutes. A large deck and patio. A good ping pong table in the garage, which also hosts a second refrigerator/freezer. Beautiful stone fireplace and plenty of dry wood. Lots of well maintained grass for Frisbee and Wiffle ball, etc. Bring your mountain and road bikes. Bring your rafts, canoes and kayaks. Bring your running shoes and hiking boots. After Memorial Day, bring your fishing poles. Bring your sunscreen, your steaks and salmon to barbecue, your favorite books, your teenagers, your parents, whoever and whatever. Everyone will enjoy their time here, and no one will want to leave."

  • A great homebase from which to explore and enjoy Bend, OR!

"My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sean and Adrianna's condo. The unit is beautifully appointed, with gorgeous views above tree tops and of an offshoot of the Deschutes River. It is quiet and peaceful on the back deck (with a distant sound of the river rushing), and we even spotted shooting stars at night. The Deschutes river trail is just a short walk away and a stunning and easy stroll. We really enjoyed the updated kitchen and great layout. The bed is very large and comfortable. It's so nice to be on the top floor and an end unit, very quiet. Most evenings after a soak in the hot tub we fired up a charcoal grill outside to prepare dinner. The property had so many opportunities for entertainment. We were sorry we didn't have enough time to take them all in, but Bend itself has so much to see and do, so the horseshoes, ping pong, basketball, etc, etc will have to wait until next time. We were a little concerned about the resort being 6 miles from downtown Bend but found that not to be an issue at all. It was well worth the solitude to drive the nice, easy 6 miles. Everything within Bend is so accessible (small town). We are big fans of Internet access, and found it to be somewhat weak during peak times in the condo. I understand signal is much better in the main reception area but there was so much to see and do we didn't even seek that out. Sean was very responsive and our check in check out process worked very smoothly. In fact we loved the place so much we contacted Sean to extend our stay for 2 more days, and we are so glad we did. He was so kind to accommodate us on such short notice. I think we may have interrupted his plans to be in Bend, but he was so gracious to allow us to stay a little longer. We look forward to visiting Sean and Adrianna's place again very soon."

  • Best in Sunriver!

""We have been renting homes in Sunriver for over 20 years and this by far has been the most perfect one we have ever stayed at. From the fully equipped kitchen to the perfect media room....everything was perfect. Plus the home was so clean. Thank you and hope to see you next year!""
