"We've just returned from a stay at the cabin; it was a much-needed quiet space for rest (and work, of course!). Although you might worry as you drive into a neighborhood that the cabin isn't secluded, don't. The setting is such that it feels quite private, what with trees and fences on the property edges to create a lovely little space. There's a well-trod path along the river that you can follow (and which others do too, so expect to see a person or two occasionally walking past at the river's edge). The sound of the river is beautiful, and makes you feel nestled in the woods. The cabin itself is cozy, clean, and simple. We only used one of the bedrooms, but slept excellently so I assume both beds are comfy! The kitchen has the basics (a collection of pots and pans, plenty of nice dinnerware); the only things I missed having were a rubber spatula and my own (sharper) knives. But for a cabin weekend, you'll be fine. It's all easy to find and intuitively organized, something I appreciate when visiting an unfamiliar kitchen. After we'd made the reservation, I ended up spraining my ankle very badly (still in a walking boot or on crutches) so I wasn't able to take advantage of hikes in the area. However, my temporary disability really made me appreciate the fully accessible shower, complete with a fold-down bench. You've got the hot tub outside to soak in if you miss having a bath (and the hot tub's way better!). Overall, this is a great choice if you want to get into the woods but don't have the time to go far from Portland. It's also a great base for going farther east towards Mt. Hood and doing hiking and/or skiing, depending on the season. Perfect for a couple, or a couple of couples, you'll enjoy some low-key relaxation to the sound of the Sandy."Guest: Hannah L. "We spent Thanksgiving here with family and friends and it was perfect! everyone having their own bathroom was wonderful. Lots of space upstairs for a few sleeping pads was great. We enjoyed the toasty wood stove and even enjoyed the fire pit. Plenty of room to prepare our fully Thanksgiving meal and so much room in the pantry for all the food we brought. Dogs loved it and so did we! The kitchen table was the best part - everyone could gather there in the morning for coffee and in the evening it was great for a seated dinner and games after. Gerald is a great host!"Guest: Carrie Date of Stay: November 2013 Review Submitted: December 4, 2013View listing
"Gorgeous "cabin"...Camp Festivus is actually a wonderful house. I arrived at night in the pouring rain to find a warm, welcoming and beautifully decorated home. Well stocked kitchen, lovely linens, plenty of space and surroundings that can't be described. The sun came out the next day and I discovered a back yard that is secluded, surrounded by lush forest and a hot tub where many hours were spent. With the information I received I had no need to contact the owners. I went there on my own for an R&R getaway and the house was too big for just me but I can't wait to return with friends for a ski vacation."Guest: Getaway queen Date of Stay: September 2014 Review Submitted: October 12, 2014View listing
"If you're looking for tranquility, in first class accommodation, then this is the place to stay. Pricing is compriable and I don't think you'll find a nicer place to relax and enjoy the trees. With many things to do nearby, the location is ideal. Looking forward to returning in the future."Guest: Ron Date of Stay: July 2014 Review Submitted: July 18, 2014View listing
