Recent Mt. Hood, The Gorge reviews

  • Gorgeous view!

"Located in a peaceful small town, very clean, with comfortable beds, updated bathrooms. The only negative was the noise from the highway echoes off the river. That would be the same anywhere you stay as Interstate 84 runs along the river. Very convenient location to all the sights in the area. The owner was very helpful, she answered all of our questions about the area, she is a wonderful person who has lead a very interesting life. We really enjoyed our stay in Mosier."

  • Beautifully updated, older home near downtown

"I recently booked a home for a girls weekend in Hood River and was very pleased! The house comfortably slept 6, everything worked perfectly and we were within walking distance of downtown . Well stocked kitchen, nice shaded patio and a lovely view of the river. I would love to come back and stay with my husband and 3 younger kids, it was very accomodating."

  • Great place for couples!

"We had a wonderful stay at this condo! We were in town for a wedding at Timberline Lodge. The condo was really close to town, we were able to walk there for groceries, food and there was a great little gift shop. The spa and pool were really close too, well maintained and very relaxing. The condo was furnished very nicely with a well stocked kitchen. Definitely a must stay! We have been telling our friends to get up there ASAP!"

Zigzag Travel Tips

Hike to Your Heart's Content from Zigzag Vacation Rentals

Zigzag lodging sits on the Sandy River at the edge of Mt. Hood National Forest. There are miles of hiking trails among the shimmering cottonwood and leafy maple trees that can be reached within minutes of your Mt. Hood cabin. Try Cast Lake Trail, an almost equal amount of up- and down-hill hiking with particularly excellent showings of rhododendron and beargrass, or try more challenging Castle Canyon Trail for a steep climb to mossy rock overhangs and valley views, but there are dozens of nearby hiking, backpacking, and biking trails to choose from.

Fun in the Fresh Air Is Easy from Zigzag Lodging

Ski or snowboard in one of four area ski sites, including Timberline Lodge, the only resort to have a twelve month operating period, so if you're a powder addict, Mt. Hood cabins are for you. In addition to hiking, fisherman will rejoice at the size of the trout and salmon reeled in from Camp Creek or Clackamas Lake, and windsurfing is a breeze on the Hood River. Zigzag vacation rentals are close to such a variety of rivers, lakes, campgrounds, and trailheads, if you love to be outside, Zigzag is perfect.

Get Close to Your Food at Mt. Hood Cabins

The nutrient-rich rush-off from the volcanic hillsides of Mt. Hood means that the Hood River Valley is a lush landscape full of naturally occurring vegetation and one of Oregon's biggest producers of fruit such as pears, berries, apples, apricots, and grapes used for wine. Photograph the flowery orchards in spring or pick berries and collect mushrooms to eat at your Zigzag lodging. Mt. Hood National Forest even has areas where you can cut your own Christmas tree if your Zigzag vacation rental is housing your family for the holidays.
