  • A comfortable and homey cottage

"First, thank you Tim for providing a wonderful place to get away from the traditional motel/hotel experience. To begin with, Tim presented as hospitable, flexible, and expedient in arranging my 3 night stay. I contacted him with only one day notice, and he sent an email within an hour after contacting him. He was very good at providing information and staying in contact through email, and when I called he picked up to answer my questions. Tim is a great host, and I enjoyed his affable personality. PROs of the cottage: After a long day of driving, it was such a pleasure to enter the cottage that felt comfortable and homey compared to standard hotel rooms. This is a versatile place, which could fulfill the needs of a romantic get-away, or a small family needing a break from the city. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner was sufficient to keep the bedroom cool. The sunken jet Jacuzzi was roomy and comfortable for two! The kitchen had sufficient dishware and pots to cook a meal. There is a large area around the place that is well kept, which is ideal for kids to play and provides a country feel. CONs of the cottage: If a person is looking for a polished and perfect cottage, then this place might not be a fit. There is some wear with over use, such as the fridge door making a popping sound when opened, but it closes fine. At night there is some road noise from passing cars, albeit the obnoxious sounding types, which can be heard and could affect light sleepers. I ranked this place five stars because the overall package is a great experience. When I inquired about the barbecue, he made sure I had everything I needed to use it. When I asked Tim if he had bikes to borrow, which he said he did not have, he indicated that he might purchase some in the future. I appreciated his attentiveness. Although I did not meet his wife, I imagine that they are great team in making every effort to make a stay at their cottage a memorable one."

  • Late July

"My wife and I stayed in this home in late July for five days. We had been traveling through British Colombia with our kids and then just the both of us stayed in Portland to scout areas for a possible relocation. The clean, comfortable home is in the Hawthorne area of Portland. It is quite close to Downtown and the public transportation in this city is excellent. There are bus stops on Hawthorne just one block from the home. We had a car and had no problems with parking. The home had all we needed to prepare solid meals and enjoy them on the deck. It is a safe, clean home and there is plenty of room. We were able to do laundry, which was great on account of the amount of traveling we had been doing. The owner was able to accommodate us and allow us to be in the home prior to the 4 p.m. check in. Thanks! We had to get up at 3:30 that morning to catch and early flight out of Canada. Surrounding this home there are many interesting shoppes, restaurants, pubs, and distilleries. Portland is a walkers and bikers dream. We hope to stay at this home again in the near future. Thanks to Thomas for everything."

  • Great spot in the Pearl

"We booked a birthday weekend in Portland and read about the Pearl District and decided to stay there. This place is perfectly located in the center. Historic building has been converted to condos and they are very cool. The location was close to many other things besides the Pearl District including the Crystal Ballroom Theatre and the Performing Arts Theatre. Walks to Nob Hill area were great. This place is across the street from Andina's Restaurant and The City Grill around the corner serves a great breakfast. We drove into the area on a Friday with heavy traffic and that great Portland rain and were met by the kind owner who guided us in and gave us the key. The place is cool. A car is unnecessary but one big perk here is a free parking spot! The bed was the best. There were a few hiccups with the dryer and dishwasher but no big deal as we figured them out. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and have recommended it to all my friends. We'll be back. Thanks!"
