  • Great Location - Great Unit!!

"This unique loft style unit deserves more than 5 stars! Private, comfortable, well furnished and very dog friendly. Short walking distance to the shops and restaurants on NW 23rd or the Pearl District and to hiking at Forest Park. It is obvious the owners paid great attention to the small details when preparing this unit for rental. We have rented half a dozen different units in the Portland area and this one is the best. You will not be missing the comfort or convenience of home here. If you want to cook, the kitchen is very well supplied with things you would only expect to find in your own home (ex: a Cuisinart coffee maker that also grinds the beans - perfect for Portland - hand held mixer, crock pot, etc.) Flat screen TV's in both living room and bedroom, king sized bed, washer and dryer in the unit, bathroom with double sinks and large shower. The comfort of this unit extends to the outside where there is a nice grill, small fenced yard (perfect for the dog) and a covered porch area where you can relax and enjoy the views along with a great Portland beer or a local glass of wine. Our lab spent lots of time lounging on the patio soaking up the sun. Did I mention dog friendly? Very much so - sheets to protect the furniture and bedding and towels specifically for dog-use. I've always traveled with our own - but no need to here. Dog bed and dog dishes are also furnished. The weather was hot and sunny during our stay, but this unit stayed very comfortable. The owner has provided an air cooler to ensure the guest's comfort - just in case. We enjoyed our stay tremendously and will definitely return to this unit. Thanks Denny and Lindsay!"

  • A comfortable and homey cottage

"First, thank you Tim for providing a wonderful place to get away from the traditional motel/hotel experience. To begin with, Tim presented as hospitable, flexible, and expedient in arranging my 3 night stay. I contacted him with only one day notice, and he sent an email within an hour after contacting him. He was very good at providing information and staying in contact through email, and when I called he picked up to answer my questions. Tim is a great host, and I enjoyed his affable personality. PROs of the cottage: After a long day of driving, it was such a pleasure to enter the cottage that felt comfortable and homey compared to standard hotel rooms. This is a versatile place, which could fulfill the needs of a romantic get-away, or a small family needing a break from the city. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner was sufficient to keep the bedroom cool. The sunken jet Jacuzzi was roomy and comfortable for two! The kitchen had sufficient dishware and pots to cook a meal. There is a large area around the place that is well kept, which is ideal for kids to play and provides a country feel. CONs of the cottage: If a person is looking for a polished and perfect cottage, then this place might not be a fit. There is some wear with over use, such as the fridge door making a popping sound when opened, but it closes fine. At night there is some road noise from passing cars, albeit the obnoxious sounding types, which can be heard and could affect light sleepers. I ranked this place five stars because the overall package is a great experience. When I inquired about the barbecue, he made sure I had everything I needed to use it. When I asked Tim if he had bikes to borrow, which he said he did not have, he indicated that he might purchase some in the future. I appreciated his attentiveness. Although I did not meet his wife, I imagine that they are great team in making every effort to make a stay at their cottage a memorable one."
