  • Peaceful, well-located property - lots of pluses!

"Very nice little apartment, perfect as a home base while you check out the big city. Diane and Charley are very sweet - they're friendly but they mostly keep to their house. Diane was kind enough to make sightseeing and restaurant recommendations. The apartment is behind (and attached to) their home but it feels a world away. If you're out late don't worry - the entire path to the apartment is well-lit by motion-sensor lights. No fumbling in the dark here! The apartment itself is airy and light, thanks to the many windows. The kitchen is stocked with spices and plenty of bowls, plates, etc. When we arrived there was peanut butter and other condiments in the fridge, I think left by previous renters. It's the same in the bathroom - there is a cabinet with "donations" from other renters (things like bug spray, sunscreen, hair gel, etc) and shampoo/conditioner in the shower. There's also a washing machine and dryer - but they've also supplied detergent! It's just a 15 minute walk to the MAX station and is served by 3 of the 4 lines, so it goes almost anywhere! It's also on the corner of 2 major bus lines (19 and 20) so there's really no reason for a car. We did quite well for a week using just public transit and our feet. Diane and Charley have also left a nice, fat stack of maps and guidebooks in the apartment - be sure to check out the restaurant guide before hitting the city! (And don't miss Saint Cupcake! You won't regret a visit!) In short, it's a quiet, well-equipped, peaceful home base. Don't hesitate - just book your stay!"

  • July 2014 Portland Vacation

"The apartments were the perfect size for two families with teens. They were clean and comfortable, and kept cool even during the heat wave. The location was ideal. We were able to walk to coffee shops every morning, and easily drive to our excursions...downtown, coast, out to the gorge."

  • As Advertised

"The PDX Bungalow was all that I expected. Photos are accurate and the location fantastic for our needs. My wife and I, along with our son, daughter-in-law and 2 grandchildren stayed. Emily was fantastic to work with and Brian equally wonderful and informative. Thanks for allowing us to share the home! Would definitely stay again, if the need arose."

  • Thoughtful Host % Excellent Location

"We are an older couple thinking of moving to Portland. This location in the Mt. Tabor area is an idea home base for exploring the city. The apartment was comfortable and features a wonderful terrace with great downtown views. We had a rental car so there was easy access to everything the East Side of Portland had to offer, and the car also made our excursions further afield very easy. If we had needed to depend on Portland's excellent [public transit system there were bus stops nearby and they offer a short trip to the access point for the Max - Portland's wonderful light rail system. Our host was very helpful as was her handyman, who gave us some excellent suggestions for a number of our day trips. The kitchen was nicely equipped - we do almost all of our own cooking for health reasons, although Portland's restaurant and bar scenes are varied and attractive for those who can enjoy them. The apartment was clean and roomy, and the WiFi connection was fast - which is important to us because we both work online even during vacations. We would definitely return - thank you Lee Anne!"
