  • Downtown Portland Living Tryout

"We rented this condo for the purpose of experiencing downtown Portland to see if we really want to move there from suburbia. The condo is well equipped, so the only thing we needed to bring was clothes and personal items. It worked well for the 2 of us, as we spent a great deal of time out exploring and taking in all the sounds, people and sights. We ate several meals in the condo as there are 5 grocery stores within a 20 minute walk or less. There's a coffee pot, but with 3 really good coffee shops within a block or less you might just want to stow the pot and go out for coffee. Restaurants for whatever food you fancy within 10 minutes or less. At least 8 brewpubs within 15 minutes. Virtually no noise from within the building, but the noise is noticeable from the I-405 with the windows open - which they were all the time due to a warm month. The white noise machine came in handy at night. The unit is in good condition and Ellen was very responsive to any of our requests. If you want to explore further than on foot the streetcar is right out front. You can buy a daily pass that covers the streetcar, light rail and bus. Don't forget to take some hikes in Forest Park, almost 80 miles of trails."

  • Little Red Farmhouse

"Our stay at the Little Red Farmhouse was great! It is an old house, probably built in the 1930's. But, it had everything we needed & more! The completely fenced in back yard was huge & amazing,(maybe an acre) with lots of grape vines covered with all the grapes you could eat. Beautiful roses too! It was perfect for our 2 1/2 year old granddaughter, who ran around & explored every inch of it every day! There is no bath tub, but we made due with the 2 showers. My husband, who normally will only stay in new hotels, actually really enjoyed this old house. We have many fond memories & lots of pictures with our granddaughter playing & exploring this place inside and out. So much better than staying in a hotel! There are 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms (both have showers, which are kind of small). Nice size comfortable living room & dining room. The kitchen is good size, with a glass top stove (looks pretty new), lots of dishes, pots & pans. There's lots of different teas, condiments, spices & even paper towels, plastic wrap etc. There is no dishwasher, but we didn't mind doing the dishes by hand. There is only one TV, which is in the living room with very limited channels. This ended up being actually good for us! We found plenty of other things to do - games, going for walks, playing in the yard, etc.! It really made us think & imagine what it would be like to live there back in the 1930's. The swing on the front porch added a nice touch, too. Very peaceful setting, to just swing or read a book. We stayed for 9 nights & would have stayed a few more days, if it hadn't already been booked for someone else. We hope to return next year!"

  • Great place for a group in Portland

"This is a very nice house with plenty of space and it is in a great location. It has humble but nice decor, which is exactly what we were looking for. Solid value, we would have spent a lot more getting hotel rooms for our group."

  • Perfect Portland Getaway

"We have yet to stop talking about our wonderful wedding weekend in Portland. The rental served all of our needs -- great location, quiet, cool (great A/C), and plenty of space spread across three floors. We planned to go out to dinner our first night in town, but the house was too inviting to leave. A quick trip to the market and we were BBQing steaks in the backyard, mixing margaritas in the high-end blender, and watching the Seahawks beat up the Packers. The kids enjoyed a walk to the park, a day at the zoo, and playing tag in the backyard. The adults enjoyed reading and plenty of downtime away from the wedding weekend festivities. We will definitely be back. Thank you for a great escape."
