  • Three of us in the Rockhouse

"We rented the Rockhouse for a week in early August and really enjoyed it. Loved swimming and fly fishing in the Chetco, interacting with all the animals, (sheep wrangling, especially!), picking fresh blackberries every morning, local hikes and walks, enjoying the coast, etc. etc. There is no Wifi in the Rockhouse, so if you need to stay in contact with the outside world, it's a bit of a challenge (and only possible if you stand in the back outside the Big House). Also, no cell phone service or TV. But, if you WANT to disconnect...this is a great place to do it. The caretakers (Kat and Oscar) are wonderful people and their positive "vibe" and generosity really add to the experience. One thing I would note: if you're needing to do a lot of cooking, the Rockhouse kitchen is quite small (no microwave) and not particularly well-equipped in terms of kitchen utensils, though well stocked for cups, plates, silverware, etc. (For example, no kitchen tongs, no measuring cup, no good knife for cutting veggies or meats.) But these are small inconveniences and if you're prepared with your own kitchen "must haves" you'll be fine. One addition to the house that would be awesome would be screen doors, so you can keep the front and side doors open and really bring the outside in, while keeping the mosquitoes and flies out! I would definitely recommend the Rockhouse for people who want unplug and take a break from the world. (I didn't miss listening to NPR for one minute!)"

  • Perfect Girlfriends Weekend

"I booked this house for a weekend getaway for 12 members of service organization in Grants Pass. The house is perfect for large groups with 4 bedrooms that sleep 8, 2 couches and room for blowup mattresses in the downstairs game room. The dining table seats 10 and we put a small table on the end to expand for 12. The kitchen is a dream and huge, allowing us to prepare meals with ease. Seating for 5 in the great room, but with 4 stools at the bar in the adjacent kitchen and a couple dining chairs - we made it work. The house/linens/kitchen/bath are very upscale and immaculate. Parking for 4 cars ( the garage was locked and not available) was pretty tight - a chore to turn around as backing down the long drive was not an option. The view from the house and covered decks was gorgeous and sunset were stunning. A short drive to the beach, shopping and restaurants - then back up the hill to paradise."

  • Slice of Heaven for sure!

"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the coast in this wonderful little cottage. It is quaint, comfortable and well stocked with everything, you only need to bring your food. Cottage is very clean and location is perfect. A few short steps takes you to the stairs onto the beach. The beach is fantastic and basically uninhabited this time of year. The hot tub was fabulous. Laurie was extremely accomodating. I would recommend this cottage, thought the price was very reasonable. The only reason I did not give it five stars is that the internet did not work. Thank you Laurie, I do plan to return!"

  • Beautiful View but needs some TLC

"The view from the condo is fantastic. However, the place needs new carpeting and appliances. The outdoor grill was rusted and very dirty, so we were not able to use it when we stayed at the condo. The condo layout is very nice - open concept, and they have a nice sitting area by a window which looks right down the coast at some beautiful rock outcrops. It was clean, just showing some wear and tear. This unit is in the first building which is right beside the highway, so you do get some traffic noise."
