"Our first reaction when we walked through the door was, "Look at that view!" it was absolutely breathtaking. The main living area was spacious and perfect for our group and we enjoyed our stay.
However, there are a few things I feel should be noted for future travelers to be aware of when they are making their choice about where to stay and what to bring.
Kitchen : Although there are plenty of plates, cups, pots & pans there wasn't a full set of silverware. We found this very frustrating and ended up buying some to use the week we stayed. Only 1 1/2c. measuring cup...Also the kitchen knives were very dull and unsafe. Our second to last day we found a brand new set in the closet by the half bath....why weren't they put out in the first place?
Cleaning Supplies: There wasn't a dustpan! So weird. We ended up making one out of a paper plate. I would think that a homeowner would encourage renters to clean up after themselves by providing the proper tools. Also, There wasn't a vacuum. When I called the property management about both of these issues they did bring over a vacuum the next day but the vacuum was broken so really no help.
No trash bags provided, we bought our own. We've rented many beach houses over the past 15 years. This was a first for us.
Linens : If you're staying with a group over 5 bring your own washcloth. Not enough provided.
Safety: The bed frame in the master bedroom was made to have a footboard attached to it. There is no footboard and so the metal frame sticks out and up quite a few inches from the mattress it is very sharp and was hidden behind the bedspread. My 81 year old mother gashed her leg on it. The property management again didn't seem to think it was a big deal. It really is a safety issue so beware!
Mold on the blinds and in the bathroom...
Grill was very dirty and a fire hazard...we cleaned it as best we could.
Listing photos and real life inconsistencies : No table on the deck but there are some nice chairs. No TV in Master Bedroom. Bunk beds in 3rd bedroom have been separated to make two separate beds which makes the room very crowded.
General Comfort : There are no dressers in any of the bedrooms and only a couple of hangers in each closet. Again, we had to provide our own which was a first for us.
Overall this is a nice home that could be great with a few more homey touches and a few things that we've come to expect as a given when renting vacation homes."

"Came here with my husband and doggie for some much-needed down time. I agree with everyone's previous comments. A few steps to the beach. Great food in Brookings (highly recommend Zola's Pizza and Superfly!). My only suggestion for Ken is to work with Charter to have a better Internet connection. If you want to come here and have work to do on the Internet? You will only get frustrated. OH - and maybe have a coffee grinder there for the coffee snobs who bring our own beans? Other than that, it's everything you need to relax. Loved the laid-back atmosphere. Thanks Ken & Jean!"

"This condo unit will not disappoint in any way! It is immaculate, fresh, beautifully appointed and completely equipped. It is in a lovely gated area and is very quiet (excepting the lulling sound of ocean waves, of course). The unit has a garage. The view is just magnificent. We so enjoyed BBQing while sipping our wine on the deck that we cancelled our dinner reservations and ate in each evening. Wonderful POI's and vista turnouts between the condo and Gold Beach--don't miss them! Beautiful hiking trails, a private beach. The owner was a delight to work with. We hope to be back one day!"

"This is a great little house that had all that we needed for our 10th anniversary vacation. We were looking for a spot to escape the heat of Redding, and this fit the bill nicely. The blackberry bushes just outside were a bonus and we enjoyed a nice cobbler. We also enjoyed walking on the beach, shell/rock/driftwood finds, and sunsets together. This house was recommended to us by some friends, and we highly recommend it too. We will visit again!
Be sure to eat at the Oceanside Diner at the Harbor (get there before noon as they close early), and get a coffee at The Bell and Whistle Coffee House to enjoy as you stroll the Harbor. If you head south to Crescent City, check out The Chart Room at the Harbor there - the fish tacos are delicious.
The owner is a great guy and he quickly responds to any questions or needs you may have."
