  • "Jaw Dropping view!" A wonderful superlative and so true!!!!

"We just came back from our Rainbow Rock adventure. It is everything the owner says it is... and more! If you're looking for seclusion, quiet and serenity with a backdrop of grandeur this is your place. However, if you're looking for adventure, fun, wonderful people, beautiful weather, and activities everywhere this is your place. All that to say it would satisfy any scenario. The condo has anything you might need at your fingertips and well appointed thanks to the thoughtful owner and has a view that you can't beat from any vantage point anywhere else in Brookings. (We know because we explored all of Brookings!) We loved the private beach at both low and high tide. The sea urchins, starfish, amazing cave, and waterfall are all a great part of the adventure. It was truly hard to leave but we know we will return."

  • Outstanding!

"We rent a lot from VRBO, and this is one of the finest homes we have stayed at. The home is very well appointed, with all furniture in great shape. The home was exceptionally clean, and the kitchen is well supplied for those choosing to do their own cooking. If possible, the view is understated, and we saw many whales at the end of July. The owner is great at responding to questions, and the deposit was returned very promptly. We recommend this property highly. The couple travelling with us, that trade timeshares frequently also raved about this home."

  • Three of us in the Rockhouse

"We rented the Rockhouse for a week in early August and really enjoyed it. Loved swimming and fly fishing in the Chetco, interacting with all the animals, (sheep wrangling, especially!), picking fresh blackberries every morning, local hikes and walks, enjoying the coast, etc. etc. There is no Wifi in the Rockhouse, so if you need to stay in contact with the outside world, it's a bit of a challenge (and only possible if you stand in the back outside the Big House). Also, no cell phone service or TV. But, if you WANT to disconnect...this is a great place to do it. The caretakers (Kat and Oscar) are wonderful people and their positive "vibe" and generosity really add to the experience. One thing I would note: if you're needing to do a lot of cooking, the Rockhouse kitchen is quite small (no microwave) and not particularly well-equipped in terms of kitchen utensils, though well stocked for cups, plates, silverware, etc. (For example, no kitchen tongs, no measuring cup, no good knife for cutting veggies or meats.) But these are small inconveniences and if you're prepared with your own kitchen "must haves" you'll be fine. One addition to the house that would be awesome would be screen doors, so you can keep the front and side doors open and really bring the outside in, while keeping the mosquitoes and flies out! I would definitely recommend the Rockhouse for people who want unplug and take a break from the world. (I didn't miss listening to NPR for one minute!)"

  • Lovely, Comfy homey and Clean

"We arrived on a Monday afternoon after an 8 hour trip, to a lovely park model overlooking the Chetco River. Doug had seen to it that all of our needs were met plus mints on the linens. This adorable rental is located close to the Port of Brookings, shopping, sightseeing and, in our estimation, is an ideal location for two people who want to become familiar with the area. The kitchen was stocked with pots and pans, dishes and all of the amenties to cook delicious meals, which we prefer to eating out. Bring your own food and seasonings, but all else is there including a nice washer and dryer shared with the other unit. Thanks Doug, for your hospitality and meeting all of our needs. We will be back next year."
