  • Picture Perfect!

"This is the second time we have stayed at the Sand Castle Beach House, and it was just as enjoyable as the first! The location is ideal. Just 15 minutes to the Bandon Dunes Resort plus the added pleasure of being right on the finest beach in the area. Incredible views of Face Rock. There are many wonderful restaurants and plenty of shopping in nearby Old Town. The home has been very well maintained and you have everything needed for a lovely stay. Highly recommend this Bandon beach home. Sam"

  • absolutely the best we have experienced

"My family has rented through VRBO in S. Carolina, Georgia, & Calif. Without a doubt, the Bandon House far surpassed the others in the quality of the home, the appliances, the furnishing and all the things in the kitchen that make cooking more pleasurable. The theater room is truly a master touch. The most impressive aspect of our visit is Brett Johnson who went above and beyond to insure our comfort. He actually went on the roof and covered a skylight to facilitate keeping that room darkened for an 8 month old to sleep. Since my family already enjoyed going to Bandon, this house and Brett were "frosting on the cake". Guaranteed that Bandon House is taking the top spot in our list of places to go for vacation."

  • Simply magical!

"Thank you, Jill, for making this wonderful spot available for others to enjoy! Your studio was the perfect getaway place for a quiet (aside from the sound of the waves filtering into our room each night…which we truly enjoyed), peaceful, private (though not secluded) week away from it all. The best parts…hmmmm…that's a tough one since there are so many: 1. The VIEW…if you're looking for a panoramic view of the ocean from right inside the living space from every corner, the windows all the way across the room and up around the entire space made you feel like your were right on the crest of a cliff overlooking the ocean nestled into the forest. 2. The accommodations…clean, contemporary decor felt like a designer studio (not a miss-mosh of furnishing put together for a rental home like many others). 3. The host…Jill was truly welcoming and excited to have visitors share her very special spot in the world! We received special "gifts" of fresh fruit on our doorstep…and anything we asked for in record time (butter, can opener, hot plate, etc). 4. The deck…the grounds and landscaping were extraordinary! Jill designed the outside living space perfectly with more than ample room to grill, sit, read and enjoy the panoramic views up above the crashing waves. She certainly has an eye for design and color…beautiful annuals combined with colorful hydrangea hedges along with mature hedges trimmed to give just the right amount of privacy without compromising the view. 5. The beach…we were able to stroll down the private stairs to enjoy a walk on the private stretch of beach every single day. There was so much to explore and marvel at…without crowds…at most, we saw 4 other people on one day. Oh, and although we didn't get to do this, we will have a cozy fire on the beach next time as we saw others enjoying! 6. Location…we were able to venture out to visit Bandon, Florence, the dunes for easy half day trips. Grocery stores and such were just a short drive away. We are probably doing ourselves a dis-service by raving about the Loft by the Lighthouse…we'll need to book early to make sure we have the chance to come back as this place is certainly a "keeper" on our travel books!"

  • Modern, with new appliances and Clean

"We've stayed here 2 different times with our Grand children and like this house. The house is always clean, has modern appliances and is located in a tucked away but convenient location. The lower bedroom is set up like a bachelor pad and has a fireplace, TV, fridge, microwave, sink and its own separate bath with shower."

Southern Coast Travel Tips

Set out to the Southern Oregon Coast on Your Next Vacation

If you are looking for the home of world-class fishing and outdoor activities, Oregon’s Southern Coast is it! There are so many beautiful sights to see and adventures to be had in the region that you will want to extend your trip for a few more days each time! From whitewater rafting, skiing and biking to hiking and wine tasting, the South Oregon Coast has it all. And, to top it off, it is also the location of North America’s deepest lake, Crater Lake. No matter when you book your South Oregon Coast vacation rentals, you get the best of everything, from the high desert to majestic mountains to lush valleys.

Southern Coast Weather Trends

When booking your South Oregon Coast cottages, remember that the weather in the region can be variable. You might see snow during the months of January and February but the further south you travel, the less likely you will be to even hit freezing temperatures. There is a great contrast between the rocky mountain ledges dropping into the ocean and the sand dunes that span more than 350 miles along the coast. The southern cities in the region are warm and sunny throughout most of the year; however, it will rain. The region has a fertile ecosystem that is bordered by a temperate rainforest.

Car Travel Along the Southern Coast

Most people traveling in and out of Oregon’s South Coast do so by car. There are plenty of good roads connecting U.S. Highway 101, which is the coast’s major highway, with Highway 5 and cities such as Eugene and Portland. However, driving can definitely take some time. Some of the southern towns can only be accessed via northern and southern routes because they are separated by the Oregon Coast Range. It is advisable to have a road atlas or even a GPS with you for your drive.

Take a Scenic Drive

The Southern Coast is really one of the most beautiful places in the Pacific Northwest. A collection of scenic roadways, highways, and byways await your arrival and you should definitely take advantage of them. The Redwood Highway to Grants Pass will take you to the legendary Umpqua and Rogue Rivers where you can spend the day rafting, boating, fishing, and splashing about. If you would like a second-to-none view of the mountain lakes, the Klamath Basin, and Oregon’s Outback, your best bet is to take the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway.

The Towns of the Southern Coast

The coastal towns have a pace all their own. How you want to spend your vacation will determine what type of South Oregon Coast lodging you decide to book. Festivals, restaurants, outdoor activities, and attractions can be found in each town and are directly influenced by the ecological composition of the region. For example, you cannot go to Gold Beach without taking a river ride. If you want to see some whales, Port Orford lodging is the place for you. For a laid-back and relaxed ambience, Bandon-by-the-Sea is best. Your vacation should consist of a few days spent in several of the towns in order to get the true Southern Coast experience.

Fill the Days with Outdoor Adventures

Spending time along Oregon’s Southern Coast is to have an unspoiled coastal experience. Your days can be filled with windsurfing, sailing, fishing, hiking, and so much more. Feel free to explore some of the most spectacular and pristine beaches in the Pacific Northwest. Many people travel to the South Coast to fish the great lakes, rivers, and even the ocean while others come to simply take in the views. One thing not to miss is Oregon Caves National Monument which is smaller than you may think at only 480 acres. Above ground you will see great fir trees and wildlife while below ground you will see a great marble cave.

All the Adventures are not Outside

Though the diversity of the Southern Coast region is incomparable to anything else, there is plenty of fun to be had indoors as well. There are three casinos in the region that allow for plenty of gambling fun. If you prefer to taste your adventure, the culinary experience of Oregon’s South Coast is amazing; it is surprising, varied, and delicious. And do not forget the Rogue and Applegate Valley Wineries. No matter what you prefer as an adventure, Oregon’s South Coast definitely has it all.
