"We had the great pleasure of staying with Kim and Kathy at The Eagle's Roost at steelhead ranch, and I cannot say enough about our hosts, and the entire experience! The roost is a redone cabin, authentically outfitted with everything we needed for your visit. Full kitchen, with everything we needed to do our own meals. The beds are comfortable, and the AC unit did the trick while we were there, as temps reached 108, the house stayed cool and comfortable. The property is safe and quiet, with shady cove only 3 minutes away. Deer, turkey, and morning and evening flights of geese up and down the river were a daily experience. Ospreys and bald eagles, the cool rogue river, clear skies and starlit nights,,,,,,,,,,, and our hosts were there for us at our every request. We spent several days floating the rogue with Kim in his pro NRS raft, and being a life long outdoorsman, I was impressed at his knowledge and experience with all aspects of fishing and wildlife observation. Several times he would point out wildlife, otters, deer, turkeys, etc that I had failed to pick out. He loves what he does, and is outstanding with kids and adults alike. As for things to do, crater lake was beautiful, but my favorite place was south umpqua falls. About 1 1/2 hr drive, its a park with a gently sloping rock face that drops into a beautiful pool. You can slide down the rock, and drop into the pool, or swim in the pools, hang out on the beach and watch everyone else. My wife enjoyed ahsland and jacksonville for shops and eating, and my daughter and son kept asking if we can live there! Phil's frosty, the local bait and tackle shop, my son got a hair cut at the barber shop next door, barbecue next door to the supermarket,,,,,,, we had a tremendous time and will be back for sure! Thanks Kim and Kathy!!!"
