"Our family of 5 (2 adults and 3 kids) stayed at this quaint little cabin for one weekend. We loved it! The cabin is a “breath of fresh air.” The McKenzie river flowing by outside is just gorgeous, it really does “sing.” The water is so clear, and when we were there had shades of a lovely turquoise color.
The kitchen is small, but has all the supplies you need to cook your own meals. There aren’t any major grocery stores nearby so you might want to stock up in the nearest big city before you head out. There is a small grocery store not far away but it has really limited options. There is a nearby restaurant that we did try out. The staff at the restaurant are really friendly and the food portions are generous. The food itself was ok but nothing to rave about, and we chose not to eat there again.
We loved the wraparound deck. . .so nice. In the mornings, I would sit outside and watch the river flow by.
We spent most of our time there fishing in nearby rivers and lakes, and hiking. Sahalee Falls is a must! It is truly one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen. We also visited Sisters briefly. A cute little town that is worth a stop.
Wi-Fi was fairly decent, for those who can’t quite let go of their electronics. My eldest was happy he could surf his iPad when we were in the cottage.
This cottage is one of several and they are much closer together than it appears in the photographs, but we never felt crowded and it was quiet. The cottage is clean and also has a small library of DVDs, which I thought was a nice touch.
Overall, it was a great trip and a great way to finish off the summer before the kids headed back to school. I’d recommend staying here."

"This hidden gem exceeded all of our expectations. My wife and I wanted a place to unplug, reconnect, and recharge. We made our reservations in the summer and spent the rest of the year looking forward to the trip. It started with a forecast of inches of rain (okay by us) and a call from the owner letting us know about the hot water pump problems the previous reviewer noted. We received regular updates during our drive on the status of the repairs, and by the time we arrived, the problem had thankfully been resolved. The owner noted that she was recovering from surgery. Perhaps that was a factor in the previous reviewer's experience? In any case, we arrived just before dark and found the cabin to be as described - nestled in the woods on the banks of the McKenzie and delightfully secluded.
The hot tub had already been filled and was just the right temperature upon our arrival. This is not your ordinary hot tub! The cedar tub is situated in woods, perched above a tributary stream and overlooking the river. You reach the tub from the cabin by descending a short flagstone-paved path and crossing a cute bridge over the tributary. Robes were provided to make the trip out and back more comfortable.
Inside, we enjoyed the cabin's unique architecture, thoughtfully-placed windows, french doors, and ample amenities. The cabin was clean and the care taken by previous renters was clear. The heat - all three forms of it - was more than ample. Beware the heated floors... my wife is now convinced that we need to install heat in our own floors! The television is small by modern standards and not well-placed for viewing from the couches, but it is perfectly adequate for watching a movie in the evening (there is a DVD player) and doesn't detract from the overall experience in the way that a modern large-screen TV might. This is a place to snuggle up and read by the wood stove, sip a glass of wine together on the deck, contemplate the passing river, and unwind in the hot mineral waters. In the warmer, dryer months this would make a great home base for exploring the many outdoor attractions of the McKenzie River, McKenzie Pass, and Santiam Pass.
Of the cabins and B&Bs my wife and I have explored in Oregon thus far, this one is our favorite. It offers indulgent amenities without pretentious luxury or commercialism. We'll be back!"

"How do you review a place where you step outside as a swallowtail butterfly floats past? The sound of the river brushed away our workaday stress and freshened our perspective. While our grandchildren found quiet pools with smooth stones and a beach where they made sand birthday cakes for each other, our kids took in the sights. We ate breakfast on the deck in dappled sunlight and roasted marshmallows over the fire at night. How could it possibly get better? The surrounding scenery and special sites (e.g. Cougar Reservoir, Sahalie Falls, and Clear Lake) were beautiful and just a short drive from Caddisfly. The service was excellent and the price was a true bargain. We wanted to stay longer and would come back in a heartbeat. Every moment in this place was special."

Nice interior, responsive hosts during the booking process.
"My husband and I stayed at the cabin for a winter weekend getaway. Everything was nicely appointed inside - kitchen, linens, etc. The view of the river was fantastic with a wonderful screened porch that seems like it would be perfect during the warm summer months. Great proximity to Mckenzie River Trail system. A little too close to the road for me but with cold temps, the windows were shut and we didn't hear much noise. We did have one issue that wasn't fully resolved by owner upon departure."
