"I surprised my boyfriend with a weekend stay here as a birthday present. We arrived on a Friday and stayed through Sunday. The cabin was exactly what we needed! It was very clean and comfortable- in a peaceful and relaxing setting. The kitchen was well equipped and the outhouse was only about 25 steps away. The deck was fantastic for grilling and lounging the day away. Bald Eagle State Forest is also nearby for some hiking trails if you want to leave the property. The hosts were super friendly and helpful throughout our stay. I would definitely recommend this spot and will return!"

"We stayed at Green Valley for two nights after our wedding. It worked out to be almost exactly halfway between Pittsburgh (where we were married) and Philadelphia (where we live). It was honestly the perfect little honeymoon getaway. Francena Cottage completely exceeded our expectations - everything was neat and very clean, the furnishings are very nice and modern, and everything is right where you want it. It feels like a cross between a cottage in the woods and a decent hotel room. It's comfortable but very modern and warm! We went to a local place to pick up sandwiches the first night, and enjoyed a quick trip to Berkeley Springs the following day to pick up supplies for dinner and explore. I have stayed in a lot of cabins and cottages over the years, and it is really hard to find a place where you are comfortable making a full meal. My husband and I really enjoy cooking, and could have easily made meals here all week. We also found time to soak in the hot tub (while checking out the stars), we explored some of the trails around the property and biked to the lake where we took a sunset paddle boat ride. I took a dip, but it was still a bit cold for me to swim in the lake, but that's what the hot tub is for! On our way home, we explored many of the historic sites along the C&O Canal. I haven't been able to stop raving about the cottage and how peaceful everything was since we have gotten back. I also have to add how nice the owner is to work with. We accidentally forgot my husbands tuxedo on our way out, and she graciously shipped it back to us. I'm already encouraging my family and friends to pick a weekend we can return soon!"
