  • We Love Green Valley

"This was our 7th visit to Green Valley and our first stay at Excelsior. We enjoyed peace and relaxation and the beauty of nature as always. It was a fabulous getaway for our 15th anniversary. Our dogs had a wonderful time too. We can't wait to come back again."

  • Worry Free and Worth It

"What a wonderful stay. Comfortable, Clean, Well Appointed, Relaxing, Worry Free Living while vacationing. Easy to check in and easy to check out. Good location for wherever your travels take you. Guest book and brochure basket are very helpful for recommendations. We travelled with two adults and one child which worked well for this property. We would definitely recommend a stay at this property and will return if visiting the area again."

  • Five Times At The Drooly Bear!

"Our latest visit to the Drooly Bear was our fifth. We return because we enjoy the house, its amenities, and the location—not far from Raystown Lake and Trough Creek State in central Pennsylvania where we hike, picnic and simply enjoy the wonderful scenery. Our beagle Emma enjoys long walks on the many trails of Trough Creek State Park. We have visited the Drooly Bear every season of the year but particularly enjoy the autumn. The foliage is breathtaking. The house has everything we need to cook, rest, work, and relax. The newest addition is Internet access and Netflix-- welcome and necessary conveniences today, but there’s also a large collection of DVDs. There are grocery stores nearby but we choose to bring everything we need so we don’t have to drive anywhere. The Drooly Bear has comfortable beds, lounge chairs, utensils, a spacious kitchen, a variety of cooking spices, pots and pans, glassware, and enough space to enjoy each other’s company or escape for a nap or to work. A huge front and side porch is a great place to sit and unwind. There’s also a gas grill for barbecuing. Matt is an excellent host. He’s made the Drooly Bear cozy and inviting. He is accessible 24/7 to answer questions and solve any problems. We’ll keep returning to the Drooly Bear because it’s a comfortable and enjoyable hideaway in the best part of scenic Pennsylvania."

  • Charming Country Home

"Completely as described in the listing, the cozy house is part of a farm. Liza was available (next door) to answer questions, but we had complete privacy. All pots, pans, utensils, and baking needs were found in the kitchen, which is a rarity in my experience with vacation rentals. Got the impression it was an old house but nicely and completely renovated within the past 10 years. All appliances and bathrooms were modern and working perfect. I'm not usually a fan of country decor, but this was more authentic looking, with lots of browns, rusty reds, and faded blues. Not kitchy or cute. Husband is a history buff, so very much enjoyed nearby Fort Bedford Museum and the recreated old village. Ate out most lunches and some dinners, and the Jean Something Tavern west of Bedford on Rt 30 was our favorite. I enjoyed the antiques in town and coverlet museum. The 2 state parks were great, too. There are several (20?) picturesque covered bridges in the area, and one was an easy walk from the home. There are 2 great summer ice cream places on the main road -- the cow and the igloo. Would recommend this to a friend who wanted a fairly low-key vacation with plenty of time to relax."
