"My husband and I stayed at Marys basement apt the first 3 nights because her other room was rented. We we're pleasantly surprised at how spaciousness it was. Private entrance and plenty of light from widows. The next 5 nights we stayed in the room above her garage. It was so nice. All the amenities of a motel room but so much better. It's located in a beautiful Amish setting yet from all the quaint little towns. Mary was the type of person you feel like you've known your whole life. We would definitely recommend her rental for a peaceful getaway!"

  • Perfect Escape

"If you want to spend a peaceful and private vacation, that's the place you wanna be. House is great, lots of light, 5 min to huge supermarket and local stores yet so private you can spend days not seeing anybody. Nancy and Bob are great host, they helped us to find out local attractions, restaurants etc.. There are a lot of blankets and towels, dont bring any. If you have kids, pool and tennis court keep them busy all day (there are decent rackets and tennis balls). There is also some kid toys (age 3-7) and a lot of DVDs for kids and for you.. We had lots of plan to do but we could not leave the house, so definitely recommended the place. Last note, house has WIFI, around 1MB, but is totally enough to check your emails and play some kid's videos from youtube etc."

  • Perfect "borrowed" home

"We had an amazing time. The house was exactly as described, clean, perfect location, surrounded by Amish! We came here to get away from the city, and that is exactly what we did! The kids had a great time running outside straight of out bed to see if the bunnies were awake yet, and to see the cows. The house also came equipped with a basket full of cars for my son and a basket full of outdoor toys which they played with nearly every day. Edie also makes amazingly cute monster friends which we couldn't resist. We adopted 2 of them. My one and only critique is, if you are coming here with small kids, there is no bathroom on the second floor, so just make sure you bring a small potty for night time. Otherwise, they would have to go downstairs at night and all the way to the other side of the house. But this is a very small and easily fixed problem. Thank you Edie for a great vacation, we will be coming back for sure!"

  • Beautiful, well-maintained property!

"We spent the first weekend of August in this lodge. The property exceeded our expectations in every way possible. Everything in the home was in good condition, the cabinets and supplies were well-stocked, the interior and exterior were very clean, and the property was in an ideal setting. We spent most of our time relaxing on the front porch, and our group of 15 also spent time in the various living-areas throughout the lodge. It's obvious that the property owners take great pride in this home, and it was a pleasure to stay there."

Some of the homes are within five miles of the battlefield so you can spend a few days walking the area on your own or take a bus tour to hear about this epic battle. Lancaster saw fighting during the Revolutionary War but today is more famous for its Amish and Mennonite population. Visit an Amish Farm and House where you will be immersed in the culture of this community.
