  • Great vacation

"The home was great and we had a great time. The home is very large, has everything we could need andis in a great location. Lena was totaly wonderful and helpful in all respects. One week is not enough to spend in this area. One day taking an Amish tour, buggy ride; a second day driving around seeing the beautiful countryside, appreciating all the animals, and the covered bridges - make sure to see the Pool Forge bridge and park, very close; one day shopping at all the local outlets; one day to Gettysburg, and one day to "railroad" at Strasburg (museum, train ride and model train museum). Endless fun to do for all. And did i mention the food - shofly pie (Bird In Hand Bakery) and ice cream (Lapps Farm) and all the smorgesbords..... A great vacation."

  • We didn't want to leave Glowing Logs!

"Winding back around a country road into the woods out of the suburbs, we were greeted by a charming unlatched gate welcoming us to cozy candlelit windows, and peaceful music playing. Before I could even taken in every careful detail of the living room, my eyes welled with tears as I told my husband, "You did good." He scouted out the kitchen promptly to see what was available for cooking our meals. I had to slow him down to savor the ambiance. No expense was spared, even for the commode and the bathroom sink. The blend of rustic cabin and touches of elegance were perfect. The heart-shaped jacuzzi was lovely, not at all like a "cheap motel." The king size bed offered a quality mattress. The generous collection of CDs was lovely. And yes, the kitchen offered an electric skillet, casserole dishes and place settings for the table. My husband quite enjoyed a treat of steak and eggs for breakfast (something we never have) with a package of thin steaks purchased at the Giant grocery store nearby, and eggs and milk purchased from the hosts' wonderful little farm store. A Dollar Tree next to the Giant also offers any forgotten toiletries, condiments, etc. for, you guessed it, $1 per item. Also the Giant had a lovely salad bar from which we also purchased some fruit for breakfast quite affordably. Nearby, watch carefully so you don't miss signs for "Mother's Kitchen" where in a little shed at the end of her driveway, a kind woman sells her home-canned goods and eggs at amazingly reasonable prices. She will appreciate any donations of empty egg cartons and canning jars. We also bought fresh vegetables from neighboring farms. Being able to eat healthy fresh local foods was part of the treat for us. The back patio faces a spacious back yard, and offers a grill, table & chairs with umbrella, and a glider swing. The autumn foliage had not quite peaked and was lovely. My husband sat in the plaid wing chair reading his Bible, and looked as handsome as I knew he would sitting there. We enjoyed the fireplace SO much. This was my husband's gift to me for my 50th birthday. We left the suburbs behind, brought years of maturing in our marriage with us, and didn't want to return to our apartment, traffic, etc. We agreed that the experience was better than our wedding or honeymoon and discussed how we could continue back at home the peacefulness and communication we shared at Glowing Logs. For us, a little glimpse of heaven!"

  • Home away from home

"This was our tenth year at Hilltop Scenic View Lodging, and each year has been better than the one before. Beautiful, clean rooms and the hosts are always friendly and helpful. If you want a restful, relaxing place to stay- away from the bustle of town, yet convenient to Sight and Sound and other tourist attractions, this is the place for you. You can relax on the patio and watch the horses being trained, or in a matter of minutes, be in the heart of town. Would recommend it for everyone."
