  • Wonderful Guest House, beautiful views!

"My husband, toddler and I had the pleasure of staying here last weekend. It was a lovely place and extremely comfortable for the 3 of us. Our daughter loved looking out the back window at the farm animals. The house is in a great location and it was easy to get to all the local sights. We can't wait to come back for another visit soon!"

  • Will Come Back...

"Stayed with a group of 10 (4 adults, 5 kids) and had plenty of room, hot water and a great time! When we had questions/needs, the owner was super responsive and very friendly! Perfect location and easy walks to my favorite "burg"! I've stayed just about everywhere in the vicinity and I'll be coming back to the LaVerne House!"

  • Joy and Thanksgiving

"What a weekend we had. Your "Little Stone Cottage" was everything and more as to what your website claims. This a must stay for couples of any age to enjoy some quiet time alone. I was not sure how we were going to fill our days, but they went by too quickly. We did so enjoy the hot tub and massage table, my husband was skeptical about getting into a hot tub when it was so cold outside, he found it very nice I must say. We enjoyed all of the organic items from your farm, in fact, we went down to the farm before we left to purchase some to take home. I am going to try my hand tonight at making butter, butter milk and sour cream. We were so happy to experience your church and congregation, it was a wonderful experience. The congregation was welcoming and so very warm. Please pass this one to them. Our invitation to Elvin and Dorothy's was wonderful, they were the perfect hosts. Their family and friends/relations were warm and very good conversationalists. We were afraid that we might be a bit shy but were included in every facet of the meal and fellowship; totally enjoyed ourselves. Now back to the cottage; if you see this website and read the reviews you just can't help yourself, you must go. The music, books and other literature have been well chosen. I am sorry that we didn't get to meet Lucy, I bet she's a peach. Anyway, if you are looking for some time well spent with your spouse please do visit the "Little Stone Cottage", well worth the money and time traveled. There is so much to do and see within a 15 mile radius that there is no way to get bored but we only traveled around for a few hours on Saturday and spent the rest of the day enjoying each others company. Sunday we spent time at worship and a couple of hours at Elvin and Dorothy's then back to the cottage for even more us time. So glad that we did this and hope to go back again, maybe during a different season of the year; maybe September 2016, we'll see. Thank you so much for your mission for loving couples, the Lord knew what he was doing by putting the ministry in your minds, you are doing a wonderful thing and doing a good job with it. This was our third, "Second Honeymoon"; married 34 years this coming June. We would like to thank Brenda and Ed for turning us on to this beautiful place."

  • We didn't want to leave Glowing Logs!

"Winding back around a country road into the woods out of the suburbs, we were greeted by a charming unlatched gate welcoming us to cozy candlelit windows, and peaceful music playing. Before I could even taken in every careful detail of the living room, my eyes welled with tears as I told my husband, "You did good." He scouted out the kitchen promptly to see what was available for cooking our meals. I had to slow him down to savor the ambiance. No expense was spared, even for the commode and the bathroom sink. The blend of rustic cabin and touches of elegance were perfect. The heart-shaped jacuzzi was lovely, not at all like a "cheap motel." The king size bed offered a quality mattress. The generous collection of CDs was lovely. And yes, the kitchen offered an electric skillet, casserole dishes and place settings for the table. My husband quite enjoyed a treat of steak and eggs for breakfast (something we never have) with a package of thin steaks purchased at the Giant grocery store nearby, and eggs and milk purchased from the hosts' wonderful little farm store. A Dollar Tree next to the Giant also offers any forgotten toiletries, condiments, etc. for, you guessed it, $1 per item. Also the Giant had a lovely salad bar from which we also purchased some fruit for breakfast quite affordably. Nearby, watch carefully so you don't miss signs for "Mother's Kitchen" where in a little shed at the end of her driveway, a kind woman sells her home-canned goods and eggs at amazingly reasonable prices. She will appreciate any donations of empty egg cartons and canning jars. We also bought fresh vegetables from neighboring farms. Being able to eat healthy fresh local foods was part of the treat for us. The back patio faces a spacious back yard, and offers a grill, table & chairs with umbrella, and a glider swing. The autumn foliage had not quite peaked and was lovely. My husband sat in the plaid wing chair reading his Bible, and looked as handsome as I knew he would sitting there. We enjoyed the fireplace SO much. This was my husband's gift to me for my 50th birthday. We left the suburbs behind, brought years of maturing in our marriage with us, and didn't want to return to our apartment, traffic, etc. We agreed that the experience was better than our wedding or honeymoon and discussed how we could continue back at home the peacefulness and communication we shared at Glowing Logs. For us, a little glimpse of heaven!"
