  • Just Wonderful!

"We stayed here last year and loved it so much we came back again this year! The house is right on the lake (beautiful sunsets) and the sound of the water at all hours is totally relaxing. The house is very well stocked with everything you could possible need. Don't forget to bring sheets and towels, but there are plenty of pots and pans, dishes, mugs, etc. The sunporch is wonderful for sitting, reading, jig saw puzzles, or just watching the water. The deck is a great place for that early morning coffee. The lake is RIGHT THERE if you are up for water activities. The sand and beaches of Presque Isle are just a couple miles down the road. Presque isle has wonderful walking/biking paths and a couple of us were feeling energetic, so we rented one of those bicycles with the full seat and canapy overhead. We spent as much time laughing as we did peddling. Erie, proper, is just a few miles away with plenty of things to do. We went to the zoo and the Station Dinner Theater; did some shopping, some sightseeing, some just hanging out. So, if you want a house right on the lake that is just WONDERFUL... this is the place for you!"

  • Location! Location! Location!

"Great views of the lake from deck and anywhere on the backside of the house. Enjoyed the use of the private back yard beach as well as the community beach next door. Modern clean home with nice amenities. Owners had home well stocked with supplies to make our week easy. Easy drive to Presque Isle when we wanted a different setting for beach and fishing. Nice nearby restaurants and activities. We met owners (who stopped by for some fishing supplies-they called first!) and found them to be a friendly, nice family. We would definitely stay there again."

  • Lovely, well-furnished, relaxing getaway spot.

"We stayed for Columbus Day weekend 2013 and had a wonderful time at this rental. The kitchen was well appointed (although a couple of cooking vessels were a bit worn)... enough to make 4 nights worth of terrific meals. Very nice grill and fire pit on the property. The bedrooms are very large and well-furnished. There is a LOT of patio space. There is a patio behind the house, a nice front porch, and a balcony off the master bedroom with a great view of the river. There is access to the river on the property and it is very quiet. Even though there are neighbors relatively close they were very friendly and helped to point out area attractions. The owners were also very friendly and kept the property very clean and made sure we were provided with towels and other necessities. One wonderful feature of this property is that it is located along the Allegheny River Trail which is beautiful for walking or cycling. A few miles down the trail is an old train tunnel that has been paved and made a part of the trail, so you can literally cycle through a hill in an old train tunnel. A little creepy but fun. I recommend bringing a flashlight or LED lamp for wearing on the head if you want to adventure through the tunnel. All in all the five of us had a terrific time. I would recommend this property to anyone who would like a relaxing getaway near to fishing, rowing/canoeing, cycling, or just away from urban bustle would enjoy their time spent here."

  • Peaceful retreat

"Each year my sister and I organize a family holiday. Each family member has a different criteria when we are looking for a rental. 22 Chains fulfilled them all. Seclusion (my brother)--you couldn't ask for more here --house totally by itself. Kids could run and play games without any dangers from cars. etc. Big kitchen(my criteria) great for preparing our evening meals --4 or 5 people could be helping without getting in anyone's way. View (My sister) we always have to have lakefront-- She is afraid of the water but loves to look at it and it was spectacular --the lakefront dining room where we ate all our meals had the best view ever. Lake just below. It looks more like an ocean than a lake with all the waves. Several members went swimming in the lake. We felt a special connection as we viewed the family pictures and memories of those who had vacationed there. The Captains Quarters was perfect for my 88 year old mother --it had its own 1/2 bath for her frequent bathroom trips but would also be perfect for a teenager. We had read in the guest book about the eagles but didn't see them until our next to last day there. They were absolutely beautiful soaring above about and playing in the strong winds that day. We left fully renewed and refreshed. A great holiday for the family. Would recommend to all."
