  • Wolfe Family

"Our family just enjoyed a very pleasant winter weekend stay at this cozy home. The house fit a family of 5 very comfortably. Our 3 children loved the SunRoom. They'd watch movies, play games, do crafts and even camped out (slept) in the evenings in the SunRoom. As a family, we went snow shoeing behind the house and the kids played in the snow and built snowmen. The house is very clean. Two new flat screen tv's. The wood burning stove was awesome! There was ice skating available at the lake. We went snow tubing and also enjoyed the indoor pool. All of these activities you can enjoy by renting here. We look forward to coming back to this home in the summer to try different type of activities. It was a very nice, relaxing and comfortable long weekend. Thank you!"

  • 7 Awesome Things You Need To Know About This Modern Gem

"1. There is a stream running through the factory. Like, right under it. There's even a glass table in the restaurant under The Loft that lets you see it flow by! Who needs Fallingwater? Eat your heart our Frankie Lloyd. Be sure to ask Joan or Victor if you want to catch a glimpse! 2. The pictures in the listing (as amazing as they are), do not do this place justice. Not that the pictures are bad: it is actually just impossible. I tried to take some pictures myself. Then I took some huge panoramas. Then I took multiple huge panoramas. It never captured the cozy enormity of being there in real life! And I figured it out: it's because the pictures are not in 3-D. Imagine a bright huge wooden-floored warm modern cube. In real life you experience the entire thing at once. With pictures, you are limited to a few slices of Modern Gem Cube at a time. Go there to really see it! 3. Joan and Victor are incredibly kind and fun people. All communication and correspondence was a breeze/blast. 4. Victor is an awesome artist with crazy cool paintings that add to the surreal grandeur of The Loft and Jim Thorpe as a whole. That's right. The whole town is better because of Victor. And Joan. 5. As with any unbelievable get-away, there may or may not be a hidden secret door. 6. Glen Onoko Falls (an infinite cascade of waterfalls) is a 5 minute drive away. You've never seen so many waterfalls before in your whole life. You'll never seem them all. I think the last Falls is in Canada. It's a difficult hike! Bring sticks and shoe leather, rations for 40 nights (worst case scenario: Canada). 7. There may or may not be a 2,000 sq. foot "mud room" off the entrance of the loft that is perfect for hanging a Pinata, and running around a little silly. A best use scenario would involve an expert 70's disco DJ and an entire rollerskating entourage. Don't do that last one. But you could. But don't. (Ask Joan.) Some of this is silly, but in all honesty, this place is amazing. We were a large group of noisy old friends, and Joan and Victor were very kind and generous to share their amazingly realized imaginations. We are forever thankful!"

  • Pictures do this space NO justice!!

"Our small church group used this home for our first retreat. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!! It was spacious, accommodating, clean, cozy and perfect for our stay. Some of us arrived on Sunday and by the end of the week all members had arrived...with NO change to space, and no discomfort or inconvenience. We visited the beach, which was a short walk from the property. It was perfect for those of us who wanted to stay in and for those who wanted to go to Walmart, stores, movie, basketball court etc., it was perfect as well. We stayed in and was content and with no problem of feeling detached from the rest of the world. The owner was attentive to our needs and responded immediately when I called. Potential renters be advised that we had a mixed group: Young children (3-9), teens (13, 15, 19), young adults (mid 20's thru 30), as well as ages 39, 47, and 52 and ALL WE LOVED IT and plan to definitely stay again when the opportunity presents itself."

  • Best of both worlds (ski vaca + a good summer resort town)

"Highly recommend. We did a spring skiing trip (Blue Mountain is easily close enough if you don't want Big Boulder for some reason). This is super close to Jim Thorpe for excellent food and things to do beyond skiing. The pictures of the house do not do it justice. It's bigger and better that it seems. We will probably be back. The sleeping arrangements are fantastic. Owner is easy going and nice to deal with. If you're penny pinching, there is a small cleaning fee that is not mentioned. Common sense tells you it's coming, but just FYI. For you summer folk, Jim Thorpe is the best destination I've ever been to for family reunions."
