  • Fantastic Get-Away!

"My family stayed here for a long weekend and had a great time! The home is well kept, stocked, and in a wonderful location. We loved being able to walk to the creek to do some fishing, wildlife watching (eagles, mergansers, beavers, and a variety of ducks), as well as just listening to the water. The amenities are great with Wi-Fi, satellite TV (it rained 1 day so it was a nice distraction for our 3 year old), and a variety of appliances for cooking. I've been staying in this area for over 20 years, and this is one of the nicest homes I've rented. For being pet friendly, it didn't smell like dogs or have hair everywhere. It is also one of the few places I've stayed that truly had the basic staples on hand (toilet paper, paper towels, linens, bath towels, etc...). It is less than 10 miles away in either direction from some great local restaurants, general stores, and of course fishing. The owners were extremely easy to work with, and really made sure their home was in great shape. We absolutely loved our stay and will return!"

  • Perfect

"Our family stayed at this beautiful home for the weekend. We booked thru the owners and were truly impressed by the accommodations. It was especially comfortable and roomy. There were other family members in town and there was plenty of room for us to sit and visit. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything that you'd need, beds comfortable with quality linens and plenty of blankets. There are 1 1/2 baths, as opposed to what the ad says. The owners were more than helpful, making certain our stay was a positive experience."

  • Relaxing time at Wapiti Woods Cabins

"My husband and I were looking for a nice relaxing getaway and truly found it at Wapiti Woods Cabins. We stayed in cabin 1......no TV, no Cell Phone service, no Internet, was at the furthest point from the parking lot (you are not allowed to drive up to the cabins, but are given a large luggage cart to bring your things to your cabin). The cabin was VERY clean and well appointed with just about anything we could need. The wood that was provided for the fire ring was plentiful and if by some chance you actually ran out, you are able to buy extra right there on the property. The charcoal grill looked to be brand new and we did indeed enjoy using it for a steak dinner. Everything you could possibly need was provided in the kitchen. The bed was somewhat hard, but it was a futon, so I did expect that and did not mind that for a couple of nights. Honestly, the pictures online do not do the property enough justice. Other than the one meal we cooked at the cabin, we ate at the Benezette Hotel and at the Medix Run Hotel. The Benezette Hotel was simply delicious for dinner and Medix Run Hotel was very good while we ate bar food. We were able to spot Elk on Winslow Hill Rd and also a bear cub. We will definitely be returning to Wapiti Woods Cabins!"

  • Peaceful, beautiful, everything we hoped for and more

"We just returned from a weekend at Blue Skies Lodge and I can't say enough positive things about it -- not even a day of freezing rain and cloudy skies could spoil the peace, beauty and coziness of this property. Chris and Kate were extremely flexible, responsive, and helpful throughout the rental process, and "The World's Best Handyman" Bob Anderson was a wonderful help and guide as we arrived after dark. The photos don't do the house justice -- it is beautiful, well-equipped, and was cozy enough for a couple but spacious enough for a group of friends. The property and especially the observation field were the highlight of the stay -- wonderful views, plenty of walking trails, and no neighbors in sight. We had one clear night, and the stars were as amazing as advertised. If you're looking for a bit of civilization, the town of Coudersport was a quick drive and had delicious, inexpensive food options and incredibly friendly people. We quickly realized we needed a lot more than a weekend to explore the surrounding area, and are hoping to return to see some of the other seasons. We did a lot of research on the lodging options in the area before our trip, but no more -- this will be our first and only choice for as long as Chris and Kate are willing to share! Last tips -- -The rental agreement warns about needing 4WD in the winter months to make it up the private driveway -- listen to them! It was no problem in an SUV but I would be careful even in a heavy rain if you don't have 4WD. Our friends ended up having to hike up after an unusually bad ice storm -- it's steep, but short enough that a fit person could do it if necessary. -If anyone is hesitant about being totally unplugged, Verizon phone users, you should have a tiny bit of reception for text messages -- just enough for emergencies, not enough to interrupt the relaxation."
