  • relaxing and cozy

"My husband and I visited this charming home in October with our 2 fur kids. Cindy was very accommodating and was available for anything we needed which we did not. There is a large yard area which was great for our little dogs.Tthis is an older cape house that has been totally renovated but maintains some of the elements of an older home - steps are a pitched a bit steeper then usual. However, once you were used to them, it wasn't a problem for any of us. The area offers an abundance of things to do if you want, or just relax at the house. The town beach is a 5 minute ride away and a nice area to visit for relaxation. Wickford village is nearby and worth a walk around and it's pet friendly! There is Narragansett olive oil there where you can purchase different oils and balsamic vinegars. Much to do in the area and plenty of great food if you want to eat out and nice resources if you want to stay in. We found that the Dave's market which is nearby offers many ready to serve/heat items whatever you may want- all of which is made in store, which was a great option for our staying in to dine. They even had numerous vegetarian options which made me smile :) The upstairs suite was cozy but if you are looking for a flat screen, it is an older set that works fine. Furniture is beachy - wicker etc. but might like something comfy to sink into. All in all , a nice place to getaway but still have access to many different areas- Newport/ Providence, etc."

  • Wonderful House in Jamestown... Highly Recommend

"We decided last minute to book a family get away to RI. Being that we live in Southern CT we didn't want to travel to far so we decided on RI. Have never been to Jamestown before we didn't know what to expect. Boy were we pleasantly surprised.... Jamestown is a very quaint beach town with wonderful sites to see and great restaurants and beaches. It offers close proximity to the other RI towns but without the crowds. You can pop into Newport to shop, eat or go to the beach and then leave to peace and quiet. Being that I work in NYC on a daily basis escaping the noise and the crowds is important to me. Now on to the house.... It is the perfect beach getaway. We have 2 boys (1 and 2.5 years old)... Very active and adventurous. The house was perfect for them. There is a nice sized back yard with a play set. My oldest would spend hours out there playing. The best part of the house is it's proximity to Mackerel Cove Beach (2 min walk). Katherine has an ATW - all terrain wagon (which tenants can use) so you load it up with all your beach gear and two minutes later your feet are in the ocean. Traveling with young children is never easy so having these resources available make it a bit easier. I cannot not also say enough good things about Mackerel Cove Beach. It's on a cove so the waves aren't too big. Perfect for young swimmers to get their water time to swim or hunt shells. The best part about it is that it is never overly crowded. I was there last week in Aug (prime time) and the beach was never too busy. Lastly being that the house is so close to the beach you get a cool breeze when sitting on the covered porch. It was never to hot or humid with the fresh ocean air blowing gently by the house. I will be planning another return to this house as it is the perfect family getaway."

  • Comfortable, charming, a short walk to the water and good eats in Jamestown!

"I recently spent a long weekend here with my husband, kids, and dog. We all enjoyed the cottage. It was roomy enough for all of us to have our own space but small enough for us to spend time together, too. The expansive one-level layout worked well. The cottage is charming with its intentional antique character. It has the feel of an older era, but with modern amenities like flat screen tv, cable/Internet, and updated appliances in the kitchen. The decor is tasteful and a treat for art enthusiasts. Our kids had a lot of fun playing outdoors in the large yard. There is a fire pit, great for storytelling! The front porch was a nice place to sit and relax. Even our dog had a great time, convinced the bucket of sticks for the fireplace was actually a collection of his favorite chew toys. We're so glad we could bring our dog along on this family get-a-way! We enjoyed walks into town and short drives to some of our favorite locations in Narragansett and Newport. Jamestown was the perfect place for us to stay. We loved being in the sea-side town, able to walk to shops and dining, without the big crowds we found in Newport. There were plenty of things around town to keep us busy, and in our down time, the cottage was very relaxing. We even found a great playground near the cottage that our kids loved, just across the street from a bakery in town. We liked having a kitchen for cooking a few meals, but we found yummy options for breakfast/lunch/dinner all around town, for all budgets. We also found plenty of kid friendly meal options in town, too. This cottage worked with our two kids, ages 5&8. The kids slept on a couch and a build-in window seat. It worked out, but our privacy was limited. While it was nice for the whole family, I think this cottage would also be nice for a couple on a romantic getaway."

  • chilly on the outside, but warm and toasty on the inside

"We couldn't have wanted anything more... Our 3 day stay during one of the coldest snaps of November was most enjoyable... Everything was there for us, from the well-stocked kitchen to the fluffiest, most comfortable beds... The views from this home, and access to the State Park were more than perfect... the dining room chandelier, the harvest table, the open concept of the living room, the family furnishings from long ago... Everything was meticulously well thought out to make your guests so comfortable. One wanted to meet the family and hear all the stories!! Thank you for one of our most memorable stays..."
