"Each year extended family plans a vacation to a different locale. This year we chose to stay close to home and stayed at 8 Antique Road in Matunuck, Rhode Island. The house is a Cape style and provided plenty of room for 14 of us.
The house was a ten minute walk to the beach (one minute by car) and the beach (South Kingstown Town Beach) was fantastic.
8 Antique Road provided plenty of parking spaces for the families vehicles and the yard was large. The linens supplied were fine and dishes and utensils were adequate. This house is not fully air conditioned. There are four units (kitchen, 2 bedrooms upstairs, and basement). The kitchen unit was at its max and still struggled to keep the area cool. Two bedrooms did not have units and made sleeping difficult as the week was extremely hot and humid. The furniture near the backyard fire pit was old and needs to be replaced. Sitting on the wood furniture near the pit was at your own risk as the wood was rotted. There was a new picnic table near the barbeque. There was a great deal of poison ivy growing in and around a tree in the driveway and on a tree near the fire pit so that area had to be avoided. The owner was great and responded quickly to our need to have a slow drain in the shower cleaned out. They promised to take care of the poison ivy later in the season. I would definitely recommend this property if you are looking to vacation in Southern Rhode Island."

"We recently visited our home state, Connecticut, and rented this lovely gem in Newport for two weeks. It was perfect. The location is great, lovely sunsets, the house impeccable and so comfortable. We enjoyed entertaining our friends and family without a doubt. The house is well appointed. If you would like to stay in an historic neighborhood, friendly, this is your place. Easy to get to the action!! John couldn't have been more helpful."

Beautifully appointed home in quaint New England town
"We rented this lovely house in July for a family vacation and 30th birthday celebration for our daughter. Not only is the house beautiful inside, the property is fantastic! Apple trees in the backyard, flower beds filled with all kinds of perennials, hydrangea bushes surrounding the house made it so fun to walk around, and for our 2 year old grandson and our golden retrievers to run around!
We were greeted with a beautiful flower arrangement in the kitchen, cut from the gardens. We also loved watching the myriad varieties of birds who feasted at the bird feeders on the patio.
The downstairs has been completely refinished to high standards with granite counters and a fantasy steam shower in the master bath. My favorite room is the large living room at the back of the house that has cathedral ceilings, big fireplace, window seat and two sets of French doors overlooking the patio and busy birds. It was such a quiet place to relax with a book and feel totally at peace.
The kitchen is fully equipped for guests -- just bring your own food and your every utensil, container, pot, pan, serving dish is waiting for you.
There are plenty of towels and sheets provided and also all kinds of recreational items at the house (bikes, helmets, kayaks, beach chairs, etc.) so you don't need to pack your car to the gills!
We spent our days at South Beach, which is about 3 miles from the house and an easy bike ride. If you drive there plan on arriving early since parking spots are limited.
We went into Newport for our daughter's birthday, which is about a 45 minute drive so if you are looking for someplace close to all that Newport has to offer just know it is a bit of a jaunt.
We were particularly grateful that Perky allows pets in her lovely home. We knew that is a sign of someone with a big heart!
We loved our stay and highly recommend this Home Away from home! We were sad to leave!"
