"Booked this house from the UK to spend time with my son who now lives in RI with his family. The house was immaculate and even better than the photos. Plenty of room and really well stocked to meet your needs. We were very fortunate to have lovely weather and the children enjoyed almost deserted beaches and loved the large garden to play in as we prepared dinner. The owners have been very helpful and prompt to reply when contacted. One problem - we were unable to spend more time there 😎 . Thank you so much - hope we can visit again in the future. Very best regards."

"My family and I truly enjoyed this home! It was clean, had all of the necessary essentials, and was nearby the beach and downtown. The owner was hospitable and available for questions. I highly recommend this home!! Perfect perfect perfect!!"

Great house, owner excellent to deal with, beautiful sunsets, off beaten track
"We just returned from a week in Block Island. We LOVED this house. First the owner was EXCELLENT to deal with. Crystal responded quickly to all my email questions and went above and beyond in making some adjustments to make my 83 year old mother's stay more comfortable. We had vacationed in Block Island years ago and were so happy to return after a 30 year hiatus. Block Island is still as lovely as I remember. The house is located on the West Side of the Island. A good ways from town - so a car would be useful. It is walking distance to Dorie's Cove which we did almost every evening to see the spectacular sunsets. We did lots of great bike rides and walking right from the house. I liked that we were not in "town"; it was so quiet in the evenings and the night sky was beautiful. It was a nice 25 minute bike ride to Mohegan Bluffs as well as Fred Benson beach or town.
The house is EXTREMELY clean. I have rented several VRBO's and have not found a house more clean than this one. The house was also well stocked with teas, coffee, paper products, laundry and dish detergent, garbage bags, etc. One downside to house is you have to clean and bring your garbage to the transfer station. It wasn't a big deal for us - but could be for someone who is just looking to stay and leave without removing garbage and cleaning. The house was very well decorated and we felt quite at home. We also were grateful to be able to bring our dog with us. He loved sitting on the deck watching runners and cyclists go by. The house was great for my husband, me and my mom. (and dog loved it too! - if he wasn't looking out over deck he was looking out the lower level window in the bedroom) Over the weekend, my 20 something kids joined us and they had the whole downstairs which has twin beds and sleep sofa as well as sitting area with TV and full bath. We had a nice gas grill outside and picnic table. The house would be great for couples vacationing together as well as families/extended family. Three full baths - with the bath on the main level having walk in shower which was helpful for my mother who has trouble getting in and out of bathtub shower.
Would highly recommend this house - just don't pick the same week I want to rent!"

"My family and I stayed at Periscope in June. We needed a place that could accommodate an extended family group. The house was perfect. There was ample space to afford everyone privacy. Our group totaled eight, but there was room for more. It worked well for the children, the youngest being three, as well as the seniors in our group. There are three full bathrooms-one with a bathtub and two with showers. We never ran out of hot water and the pressure was great.
The house is well appointed with plenty of linens and kitchen equipment. We cooked and served meals for all of us and friends who were staying near by. There is a large BBQ if you want to cook out. There is a washer and dryer and clothes line, so you can pack lighter when you travel.
The house and grounds are lovely. The plantings are amazing and a wide variety of birds visit the feeders outside the kitchen window. Th large wrap around porch has room to eat out, sit and relax, or for the children to play. From the porch you have a sweeping view down to the water. There is a dock and we spent a considerable time enjoying that setting. Inside you will countless books to read, a large library of DVD's, games and toys.
If you need granite and stainless steel or want a place to throw wild parties, this place isn't for you. If you want a tranquil setting for a perfect seaside vacation, Periscope is perfect. The photos give a very accurate view of the house.
Periscope is the kind of house you see in pictures and movies and wonder what it would be like to live there.
On the practical side, the owners are very easy to work with. A cleaning crew came and polished up while we were staying there. The beaches were close by, the pizza man delivers, and we could find anything we needed in town. This property is perfect for lazy days or as a base to enjoy the beaches and numerous attractions in the area."
