  • A Week in Heaven

"Windward Cottage combines more than adequate living space with great outdoor accomodations with its very wide and extensive half wrap around covered porch. We spent a good deal of our time out there with NO MOSQUITOES, at least not at the end of August. Jamestown and Conanicut Island have rich histories dating from the 1630s, the Revolutionary War, but recovered and became a fashionable summer retreat while maintaining a near self supporting country atmosphere. Now with two bridges one can have his and her choices of what to do and explore in addition to the old forts and lighthouses on the island. The cottage offers communal living and kitchen rooms but private bed and bath spaces. A nice lawn surrounds the house in a quiet area of the the North End of the island. The owner could not be more congenial in working with us in the rental process and afterwards."

  • Nice comfortable home

"We visited this home to attend Parent's weekend at the Naval Academy Prep School. It is very convenient to Newport. The home is very well suited to six people. The lower level is a huge area, wonderful for young folks to gather for games or TV with lots of seating. We did not use either of the pull out couches so cannot comment on their sleeping comfort. There is a large, flat back yard wonderful for Frisby or other games. The kitchen area is equipped with plenty of dishes and flatware though the frying pans appear to have been abused. We would definitely return if there is another long weekend to visit the area."

  • chilly on the outside, but warm and toasty on the inside

"We couldn't have wanted anything more... Our 3 day stay during one of the coldest snaps of November was most enjoyable... Everything was there for us, from the well-stocked kitchen to the fluffiest, most comfortable beds... The views from this home, and access to the State Park were more than perfect... the dining room chandelier, the harvest table, the open concept of the living room, the family furnishings from long ago... Everything was meticulously well thought out to make your guests so comfortable. One wanted to meet the family and hear all the stories!! Thank you for one of our most memorable stays..."

  • Wonderful Family Reunion house!

"We spent a week here last July and could not have been more pleased. My immediate family of 10 (ages ranging from my parents in their 70's to my 8 year-old daughter) stayed here at the Middle Sister while other extended family members rented a nearby house. We would find ourselves all retreating back to this lovely house to hang out. The view from the front porch cannot be beat and we spent much of the time gathered here. We are planning to return this coming summer."
