  • Great family vacation!

"The house and property had everything a family with 3 kids needs for a wonderful stay on Block Island--a selection of bedrooms upstairs and downstairs so that the kids could either have their own room or share, a fully equipped kitchen, big dining room table, TV/DVD player for watching a family movie in the evening, two big decks equipped with picnic tables and comfortable chairs for reading and enjoying the view and sunshine, and plenty of yard space. We walked every day to a nearby beach which was never crowded and was perfect for playing in the waves and sand. We were also within walking distance of the famous Painted Rock (and took our turn at decorating it on our last day on the island). Other beautiful beaches and fun activities are close by, and we enjoyed biking, paddle boarding, kayaking, horseback riding, and hiking on the Clay Head Trail as well as the Manisses animal farm, and ice cream and beanbag toss at The Oar. Bring a car if you have a young family. Thanks so much for the welcoming and comfortable accommodations, Catharine! We would definitely stay here again."

  • Great location for a getaway for 2

"Great location - left car by apartment and walked to marina. The apartment was small, but comfortable. An improvement would be to place an air conditioner on the first floor (the kitchen and TV area). Since it was hot, we ate fast, and went upstairs to cool off. The only con was that the wifi signal was weak, and barely usable, but since I was there to relax, and not work, it didn't matter much. It is possible that if I complained to the owner the router could have been moved or rebooted, but as I said, it wasn't important on this trip."

  • The PERFECT Family Vacation House

"This will be the sixth year that our family has stayed at Katherine's Cozy Cape on beautiful Jamestown Island. To say that we love this property is an understatement - It has been a true summer oasis that has been enjoyed equally by everyone in our family from age 3 to 73. They layout is perfect for multi-generational families and there is plenty of lawn space so that your younger ones can run wild in the safety of their own yard. The covered front porch has plenty of room for lounging and family dinners - We eat outside every night regardless of weather. Most importantly, this house is just a short stroll to Mackerel Cove. This well-protected, shallow cove is absolutely ideal for younger swimmers and is the best beach on the island. There are only a handful of homes with this kind of proximity and, although it can get busy during the day with visitors, sunset swims are solitary and spectacular. Now that the kids are older, they have found lots of other adventures and things to do including sailing camp at Fort Getty, day trips to Newport on the Jamestown Ferry and classes at the very cool Jamestown Arts Center. They are never bored! For restless adults, they offer short term memberships at Jamestown Fitness - a great little gym within walking distance. The house is incredibly well-maintained and stocked - every appliance and utensil you need is there. Great beach house bonuses include private porches off the upstairs bedrooms with peek-a-boo ocean views, lovely hardwood floors for easy sand-sweeping, an outdoor shower with hot/cold water and air conditioners in four of the bedrooms. And, with town less than a mile away, early risers can pick-up breakfast treats from "Slice of Heaven" or the whole gang can walk down for dinner or "Spinnakers" ice cream! Who knew Paradise was in Rhode Island?"

  • Great get away!

"This is our second year renting this house, we love it. We have a 1, 3 and 6 year old and this house has everything you need! The house is very clean, the yard is nice and big and everything is there that you need. The kids packed up sand toys and body boards and we all walked down to Kelly Beach for a great time. We also spent many days at the town beach in Narragansett, it was well worth the $ to park! The owners are very nice and make sure everything you need is there! A great vacation! We are looking forward to going back!"
