  • Great week!

"Visited with husband, teenage son and dog. Perfect location to see Boston, Newport, Cape, etc. House was spotless, and we really appreciated all of the household and pantry items provided. Did a lot of lobsters from Newport, and delicious meat from Clements Marketplace in town. Also loved reading/sunning on the back deck with the all day sun. Will definitely stay again if visiting the area!"

  • Great Vacation Spot

"Our family had a wonderful week at this inviting, comfortable house in Portsmouth. The home was spotless and full of extras that are unusual in vacation homes, such as linens, towels (even for the beach) and beach chairs and even bicycles. The location is beautiful, surrounded by water on both sides, with a back deck overlooking a wide river filled with sailboats. The home is large and accommodating for large groups, with a large kitchen and living room on the first floor and a very large living room upstairs with a flat screen TV. The furniture is comfortable and the beds are great, which is also unusual in rental properties. The owner is highly responsive and helpful. There are many restaurants nearby, and these are described on an information sheet available in the kitchen. Newport and great beaches are nearby, about 1/2 hour for Second Beach, which is particularly good. The photos are accurate, which we also appreciated. The only "minus" features are mentioned in other reviews. If 4.5 stars had been an option, I would have chosen that, and we certainly would recommend this property."

  • Extraordinary Setting

"We just returned from a delightful 10 days at this cottage overlooking Narragansett Bay. Possibly the best view we've ever had at a vacation rental home, with plenty of interesting boats and wildlife on top of the stunning landscape. The waterfront access allowed for great kayaking and swimming (but water shoes recommended due to the rocky shoreline). We also enjoyed golf, biking and walking nearby (don't miss Colt State Park in Bristol). We like to cook and eat in so the kitchen was slightly small and under-stocked but we anticipated this and arrived with some specialty cooking gadgets and spices, etc. which allowed us to prepare several glorious meals eaten outside on the lawn under a setting sun. Clement's Marketplace was a big hit. Portsmouth itself is no tourist destination but both Newport and Bristol (each within 15-20 minutes) have plenty to offer. Finally, the cottage's neighborhood, essentially at the end of a cul de sac on an isolated point, guaranteed relaxation. Ideal for families with young kids."

  • All the comforts of home and than some...

"We spent a long weekend here in March. The weather was in the 40's and low 50's allowing us to enjoy walks on the stone and sand beach, This is a bay beach, so no waves and it is more stone than sand, but quite a view and very peaceful. If you like bird watching, this was a great location for watching winter ducks, so bring your binoculars. In a warmer season, this would be a great location for kayaking. The water and bridge views from inside the house are wonderful. The way my bed was situated, I could watch the lights of the bridge and the stars out my window at night. I hated to go to sleep. Mornings we spent lounging in the two large sunrooms enjoying the views and the coziness of the house. The house is 20 minutes from Newport and some might feel like it is removed a bit from the town. To us, this was a plus as the drive was easy and it afforded us the opportunity to explore the island on the way in or out of town. It's a great area to just drive down streets to see where they lead. Great views and beaches are throughout Middletown and Portsmouth. We were also only a couple minutes from Bristol and Tiverton over two separate Bridges. We enjoyed exploring both since we were so close. Both were charming. The Boathouse was a nice restaurant/bar in Tiverton with scenic views and good food, just a little pricey, but worth it. From the window there, you looked across the water to the peninsula the house is on. Four corners in Tiverton was a quaint little area with lots of art galleries and a great place for homemade ice cream called, Grays. Bristol has a great farmers Market Saturday morning at MT Hope Farm. You can get fresh eggs in assorted colors, really good fresh baked bread, jam, and seasonal veggies, etc. Although in March it was mostly root vegetables and it was inside a beautiful historic barn with live music. Also check out the Beehive Restaurant in Bristol a very quaint downtown on the water. All in all, the area is beautiful and fun to explore and this house feels like your home away from home. I am so glad we chose to stay here over a hotel in Newport. Plenty of room to spread out and all the comforts of home, and than some."
