"We just spent a week there with 12 people ranging in age from 18 months to 70. It was pretty much perfect. As soon as you walk in, the view takes your breath away. There are plenty of different areas to hang out in the house as well as on the screen porch, in the sunroom, on the upstairs deck, on the lower deck... We appreciated the use of the kayaks, Sunfish, bicycles, and beach chairs and toys. Inside, it was not too difficult to child proof for a toddler -- bring plenty of outlet covers and a few bungee cords. The only drawbacks were 1) internet that worked intermittently when used wirelessly -- since we all had iPads we could not plug in the Ethernet cable, and a couple of the guys actually had to work while we were there, and 2) the two bedrooms under the kitchen hear every footstep above; bring earplugs or encourage your early risers to use the downstairs kitchen. Beaches are good; we mainly stuck to the local Charlestown beach as it's a short bike or car ride, and did not find it too crowded. You can kayak to Boater's Beach, which is totally secluded, but a long paddle (about 45 minutes). We got fresh oysters from the oyster "farm" right in Tautog Cove, near the house -- about a one-minute paddle -- yum! I think we'd all happily go back there!"

"My family (son-27, daughter-24) and I had a blissful Labor Day week vacation at this funky but totally updated home. We have been going to Block since they were born but never stayed right on the beach and so close to town. It was a wonderful experience and thinking back would have been equally ideal when they were little - walking across the street to the beach rather than loading up the car is so easy. The views from every room and the porches are exquisite; in fact one picture I took from the master bedroom will be the subject of my next 24x36 oil painting!"

"We stayed in this great cottage during the Naval War College's Graduation. There were 4 of us and it was perfect. The kitchen was very nice and spacious and we used the grill outside since the weather was so great. Every morning was spent on the porch and we made the easy walk down to the beach a few times!"

"This July will be our 6th year renting this house and we Love it. Our married children are spread out in several states so we all meet here for a fun filled family vacation. The first year we had 1 grandchild and now we have 4. They talk about the "beach house" and look forward to spending a week together with their cousins. They and we especially love the outdoor shower which is perfect for cleaning up after the beach which is a short walk away. Some of the great things that make this house perfect for a family vacation is that there are plenty of bedrooms with ceiling fans, bathrooms, the kitchen/living area is open, washer/dryer, a nice lawn, with outside tables and grill. We all agree that the best part of the house is the large front porch with lots of comfortable chairs. That's where we spend most of our relaxing time."
