  • We love the Captain's Cottage!

"My wife and I love staying here. It's the perfect size for us and our 8 year old daughter, and you can't beat the location. This was the fifth time that we have stayed here, and as always, it was spotless. The only problem is that it's hard to wake up in the morning, because it's so peacefully quiet. Highly recommended for small families."

  • We loved our stay...

"We loved our stay, especially in the quiet space of early October. This visit, we bicycled to Atlantic Avenue in Westport, MA, walked the rocky shore to the north and the south of the cottage, and enjoyed lunch and wine tasting at Sakonnet Vineyards on a gorgeous fall day. The Maus Haus is a fine location for day trips to Newport, Providence, or Bristol, RI or New Bedford, MA. The out-of-the-way location is perfect for dog owners who want to walk their dogs along the shore. It's a perfect spot for families with children five and older, who will love sleeping in the loft. The bedroom is on the first floor tucked behind the kitchen. As adults, we could not stand up in the loft. Think of a long tent... Regardless, I love tents and would enjoy sleeping in that space."

  • Great family spot

"The pictures did not do this place justice. It was nicer than we had expected. We spent the week with my extended family and the space was perfect for us. My family of 5 took the entire second level which had bunks for my kids and a generous size bedroom that fit a pack n play nicely. It was perfect and quiet away from the noise of the common area. The main living space was very open. It had a great screened in porch and fabulous dining room that fit us all. The king size bedroom was large and perfect for my parents. The upper level bedroom was perfect for us since we had my younger sister who does not have kids so she could hide from the madness. They had a great backyard that the kids loved and this place was about .25 miles from the beach. The only reason I would not give it 5 stars was because we had to do a heavy scrub of the grill and it would have been helpful to have a few more beach chairs, but other than that this place was great!"

  • Mrs.

"We were 4 couples and 3 children and the home accommodated us beautifully. It is well furnished and the kitchen has everything that anyone needs for entertaining up to 20. The home is well back from the highway and there is a stone wall that separates the lawn from the road, thus making it a wonderful lawn for children. Everything was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. The owners were helpful at all times. We were involved with wedding activities so there were many family members in and out, all of whom were impressed by the property."
