Shelter Harbor Chalet Review
"My family has been vacationing in the Misquamicut/Westerly area for years, and this house has been the first we have continued to return to. If sitting on the beach all day isn't your thing (too bad – the beach access that comes with the house is the best on Rhode Island) there’s plenty of exploring to do in the Salt Pond (thanks to the generously provided kayaks), clamming, and visiting Newport or Watch Hill. It’s been so great for us; as our family gets bigger and friends come to visit this house has been so accommodating. If anyone wants to retire for the evening a bit earlier, there’s a beautiful new sun-room that allows the rest of house to remain undisturbed by those staying up later. The house is always clean and comfortable; it allows us to really catch up and spend rare quality time together. We have lots of memories around the large kitchen table!
Karin and Winter (the owners) are great to rent from. They are helpful and quick to respond to any correspondence. I cannot recommend this house enough and look forward to going back the whole year!"

"We spent a week here last July and could not have been more pleased. My immediate family of 10 (ages ranging from my parents in their 70's to my 8 year-old daughter) stayed here at the Middle Sister while other extended family members rented a nearby house. We would find ourselves all retreating back to this lovely house to hang out. The view from the front porch cannot be beat and we spent much of the time gathered here. We are planning to return this coming summer."

"We had such a wonderful visit to RI and staying at this home was truly one of the brightest highlights! We found EVERYTHING we could possibly need there, including peace and quiet. A true home away from home kind of vacation! The owners were most helpful and responsive both before, during, and after our stay and made fast return of our deposit. The hosts also own the beautiful home behind this one but it was not occupied during our time there; we had the utmost privacy during our end of September stay and felt like we were the only ones in town.
Shelter Harbor is a peaceful place during all seasons and the dock is just a few minutes walk away. Shelter Harbor Inn & Restaurant is also within walking distance and is open 365 days a year, a real treat for those who want to stay close to home for a meal out or have an event there while hosting family at this nearby rental house. You will find a fully equipped kitchen at the home though so if you love to cook this is an optimal rental!
There are many wonderful adventures to be had for all within driving distance. Judith Point is just up Rte 1 where you can find fresh seafood and catch the ferry to Block Island. Historic Newport is about an hour's drive away over the beautiful bridges and offers shopping and day activities for everyone. ** If you head north of Rte 1 be sure to stop in on PATTICAKES on Kingstown Road in Wakefield for the best desserts of your life!!
You'll also find gas stations, restaurants and other conveniences like Stop & Shop grocery store and Walmart right down the road off Rte 1 (south of house) and popular public beaches/attractions like Watch Hill and Misquamicut Beach off Rte 1A past beautiful New England style stone walls and gorgeous beachfront houses. Downtown Providence, RI also offers day trips galore if you want to take the trip north into the state, and Leaf Peepers will be delighted with a drive through nearby CT via Waterford Rd or Rte 78.
Many thanks to the owners for considering all the details to make our stay truly comfortable! We will definitely stay there again on our next adventure to New England and would gladly welcome the hosts in our home! Good people and a good place :)"

"The conditions were excellent, clean and cozy. The furnishings were artistic and promoted relaxation. We easily slept 10 using the pullout in the living room, and fit a crib for the baby. An easy walk to three different type beaches. Bike riding and surf swimming was a lot of fun. We'll go again next year."
