  • Perfect Summer Getaway

"Our group of seven (3 adults, 4 kids ages 16, 15, 10, 8) absolutely loved our week in this house. It is spacious, well-appointed, beautifully decorated, and filled with light. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need, even a big pot for cooking lobsters from nearby Zeke's fish shop. There was a big closet full of games and ample beach towels. The open great room/kitchen is great for hanging out, it is nicely decorated with quality furnishings, but not too fussy for a beach house. We loved the outdoor shower and grill, and the kids had a blast running around the huge backyard while the adults enjoyed drinks from the deck. There are three bedroom and a big bathroom upstairs; the second full bathroom and fourth bedroom are on the main floor. The location is perfect - two blocks to McQuades Grocery and the liquor store, three blocks to downtown including the Slide of Heaven bakery, six blocks to the waterfront and Spinnaker's Ice Cream shop. I would not hesitate to recommend this house and we'll be staying here again next time."

  • A Week in Heaven

"Windward Cottage combines more than adequate living space with great outdoor accomodations with its very wide and extensive half wrap around covered porch. We spent a good deal of our time out there with NO MOSQUITOES, at least not at the end of August. Jamestown and Conanicut Island have rich histories dating from the 1630s, the Revolutionary War, but recovered and became a fashionable summer retreat while maintaining a near self supporting country atmosphere. Now with two bridges one can have his and her choices of what to do and explore in addition to the old forts and lighthouses on the island. The cottage offers communal living and kitchen rooms but private bed and bath spaces. A nice lawn surrounds the house in a quiet area of the the North End of the island. The owner could not be more congenial in working with us in the rental process and afterwards."

  • Amazing Weekend

"We rented this house for a girls' weekend at the beginning of June. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to contact. The house was absolutely perfect and the pictures do not do it justice! The living room is very large with ample seating for a large group. The backyard was great for grilling and sitting out, again ample seating for everyone. Great beach/relaxing feeling as soon as you enter the house. It's also a great location, we walked everywhere (beach, town, cliff walk). I would recommend this house and plan to go back at some point! Thank you for a great weekend getaway!"

  • 2nd time back even better than the 1st

"Our family of 6 adults and 2 children happily returned to Cliffside this year for another terrific week looking out over the Sakonnet River. It was like a homecoming - we had confidence that everything we needed was right there, from ample towels, kitchen supplies and lawn chairs to where to find the best grocery stores and restaurants. We returned to our favorites around Newport and Middletown, and then explored further afield into Tiverton, which is charming, and Jamestown, which is a boaters dream. The owner is great to work with being very responsive and straightforward with information and explanations and the pictures are very accurate except that they can scarcely do justice to the views. The cottage is very clean and comfortable, being very homey and not fussy at all, and she provides sets of towels in a different color for each person which is great so that folks don't easily get their things mixed up. Having a washer and dryer makes mothers very happy and makes it possible to not have to pack every piece of clothing you own in case of bad weather. The boating and kayaking are fabulous, the fishing is excellent, biking, walking, swimming, EVERYTHING is great here, because there is something beautiful to see around every corner, and water, water, everywhere! Everyone talks about Newport, which is a great place to visit, but Battleship Cove just 20 mins away in Fall River is historic, educational and its own kind of amazing, and New Bedford has a great harbor and the Whaling Museum, and Tiverton has terrific farm stands and lovely shops and a most scenic drive with stone walls of all sorts of picturesque types around its agricultural areas. So the location of Cliffside is quite perfect for staying home to relax with a great view, or heading out in all direction of the compass to explore, or finding anything you need in a very short distance from the house. We would absolutely recommend this property, and this owner to friends and relatives."
