Thumbs Up !
I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental.
I was very happy with the location.
The vacation rental was very clean.
The property manager was very helpful.
Overall, I recommend this vacation rental.
I could not have been more pleased with our vacation experience. The location was perfect for sunsets, dolphin watching and playing in the sand. If you want surf, well you will have to travel down and around the island. Having access to Wyndhems pool for a small fee was also a big plus. I had 8 teen age girls and they loved going to the pool in the evenings to cool off.
Although the home is showing some signs of age, it was still very well maintained. And it was clean, unless you looked on top of the cabinets or underneath the furniture. But really are my cabinet tops dust free?
We only had one little issue with the air conditioner on a very stifling day to which maintainance attended to promptly, within 45 minutes of my call someone was out to check on it.
I love Edisto and I hope my girls will make this an annual trip. Thumbs up!!

"We chose this property because of the large space available and the bunk beds in one of the bedrooms. The property itself is fascinating and has obviously been tastefully added on to. We brought two families down and packed the house to the gills with 4 adults and 8 children. Never did we feel like we were cramped or stepping on each other. The kids really enjoyed the movies and the novelty of using VHS tapes... "How do you start the movie over?" REWIND! The covered, paved carport was great for a small kiddie pool that we brought and the outdoor shower was great when some of the younger kids got into the mud during a trip to the sound. How can you be mad at a muddy kid when you have such a nice, heated outdoor shower? The kitchen was well furnished and the various porches were amazing to get away from the madness of the indoors.
Key points (positive):
Bike/running trails directly behind house. Rent a bike and use it every day. Awesome, easy access to beaches.
24hr Grocery store on island is great and prices are reasonable
Fresh water can be obtained from the city hall building less than 3 blocks away
Laundry room downstairs perfect to keep dirt and mud from inside
Visit Botany Bay for some truly outstanding nature sights! That beach is amazing!
Mattresses in master suites desperately need replacing. I have a bad back and it was utterly painful to sleep on. This was easily the worst part about our trip. Sleeping on a rock hard, squeaky mattress actually made me dread going to sleep at night. The kids' beds were just fine.
Tap water is really salty, even after filtering. Do NOT make coffee or tea with it. Get fresh water from city hall. Not really a big deal.
Bring dishwasher soap as it is fairly small compared to most newer units. Just takes a few extra cycles to wash everything when the house is full.
Owner: Consider adding some hammocks or swings under the home to encourage more outdoor activities. Otherwise, we truly enjoyed our stay and your property will be high on our list of recommendations, but PLEASE get those mattresses updated. After a day of chasing kids, I want to be snuggled in a nice bed while on vacation, not struggling for sleep. Also, you may want to have someone look at the power sockets in the living room and dining area. Some of the plugs fall right out as they are worn out. Possible fire hazard, but really easy to fix. Would definitely recommend, overall!"

"The Island Manor is a perfect beach house! With 8 women reuniting for a mini-reunion (hadn't seen each other in 45 years) we had a long list of wants and looked at a lot of listings. We could not have picked a better home. From the very first moment we arrived we were thrilled. The house is delightful. There are large comfortable gathering spaces, a well-equipped and open kitchen, large dining room table and COMFORTABLE beds. RIGHT ON THE BEACH! Lots of space for gathering together or getting away. The sweeping balconies across the entire house on beach and street side are wonderful. Sleeping with the ocean right outside is very special and all but one of the bedrooms opens directly to the ocean. Every one of the beds was comfortable. One of the best things is that you can walk to the beach in about 30 seconds. No trudging through the dunes, across boardwalks or down public paths. Just walk down the stairs and you are there. We rode bikes, toured the parks, ate in great local restaurants, did some shopping and cooked great meals at home. But mostly, just sat on the beach and relaxed. If the weather's uncooperative, there are fantastic movies, books, music at the house. The owner, Richard was not only responsive but patient and kind! He sure answered a lot of questions for us. This trip was special and we wanted a wonderful house. We found it! Thank you, Richard for allowing us to spend a great week at Island Manor. We hope to do it again soon. (Be sure to go to Kings Market on the way in and get the crab cakes and chicken pot pie. YUMMY)"

"This was my first trip to Edisto Beach and this rental condo fit all of our vacation needs. The bedrooms and common areas were roomy and comfortable. Kitchen appliances were new and well-maintained. A great bargain to be near such a wonderful beach. And the owner Debbie was extremely helpful and accommodating when I had an issue checking in my first night. We plan to be back next year :)."
