Blue Heron Inn Condo Rentals are in the Heart of the Folly Beach Curiosities
Like every small town in America, Folly Beach, South Carolina offers several local curiosities. These are things that add color and excitement to an area and help to make this country not only unique but distinctly American. Folly Beach vacation rentals and Blue Heron Inn condo rentals put you right in the middle of the fun and make visiting all of these unique attractions easy and accessible.
What is the Deal with The Boat?
Blue Heron Inn beach rentals put you close to a de facto memorial to Hurricane Hugo, The Boat is an interesting local oddity. Hugo brought the boat to shore and no one ever claimed it. About a year after it was left on shore someone had the brilliant idea to paint a message on it. That message was followed by another and another and now The Boat is a local art installation of sorts. It gets periodically repainted and is subsequently refilled with messages.
Headless Body on Folly Beach?!
Blue Heron beach rentals may be close to all the action but are free of headless bodies. The same can't be said about the west end of Folly Beach. In 1987 a construction excavation unearthed 14 headless bodies. All but one were buried with the top end facing west. Union Army Eagle buttons were also found in the grave site as well as the bullets from a Civil War era rifle. There have been several theories presented as to why these bodies were all missing their heads (you can ponder as well from the comfort of home at Blue Heron Inn condo rentals) but no definitive solution was ever found. This mystery, combined with the artistry of The Boat, make Folly Beach a unique place to spend your vacation.
