  • A true beach cottage.

"A true summer beach cottage experience. The house is very cosy and comfortable. An easy walk into the town of Folly for lunch or dinner and just across the street from the beach. We love the big screened porch. We will be staying for a third time next year. The house is very clean and well maintained while retaining the vintage 1920's feel."

  • What a great condo!

"We came to Folly Beach for our annual book club beach get-away and could not have been more pleased with this fabulous condo! For each of us to have a private bedroom and bathroom was a dream. The kitchen had everything we needed and then some. Any question about the area or condo was quickly answered by the most accommodating owner--we couldn't have asked for more! Except for a day trip to Charleston, the car wasn't needed as restaurants and a market are just a short walk away! Fabulous!"

  • Outstanding! Beyond our highest expectations!

"Everything about this home is perfect. It's on a quiet street. The design and decor are amazing. If you are a fan of art and architecture then stay here. It's beautiful, meticulously maintained, spacious and intelligently designed as a home on the beach. . . sophisticated while still feeling relaxed and comfortable. If I should ever build a home near the ocean then I'll shamelessly ask the owners for a set of blueprints. The location couldn't be better; just a short walk to the beach and dozens of great restaurants. Everything you need is within easy walking distance. The only time we ever jumped in the car was to dine in downtown Charleston--about a ten minute drive. We love Folly Beach. It's the last of those old fashioned beach towns that I remember from my youth. Today, it seems that every bit of coastline has been developed for high rise condos and timeshares. This hasn't happened to Folly Beach; we hope it never does. Stay here. The owners are friendly, responsive and they love dogs. It's obvious that they love their beach home too! We plan to come back soon!"

  • Beautiful Clean Well Decorated

"We arrived at this unit just over a week ago and immediately fell in love with the Island and the condo unit. The unit was very clean and homey. I was surprised with the decor and furnishings knowing this was decorated by a man, no offense Sonny!!! There is a huge gorgeous wooden table in the dining area that easily accommodated everyone. The living room table is equally as gorgeous and large. This gave plenty of options for our little ones to play, color, draw and play games. There is a br with 2 twin beds perfect for our 2 teens, one with a Queen bed and the master which gave us a very comfortable King bed. The beds were all very comfortable making it impossible to not get a great nights sleep. We had no tossing and turning and I actually got such good sleep that I woke well before anyone else and was able to have lots of quite time on the patio watching the water, gulls dive for food and the sun rise. This unit has a slight side view but the perfect view of the pier and sun rise. The kitchen is fully stocked and nice. The details in this unit are surprising. The kitchen cabinets are perfect for a beach look. The bar stools are gorgeous as well with palm trees on the back rest panel. Everywhere you look it is calming, homey and very comfortable while having very clean lines and those small touches such as the boat fruit bowl and the beach themed dishes. The master shower is tile with glass doors, perfect in my opinion. There is a huge garden tub in the master as well. Our little one especially loved to "swim" there for her evening baths. Everything was in perfect working condition. Everything was clean. Everything was just as you want and expect for a relaxing family vacation. FYI we had family renting 2 other units in this complex same week who paid up to $1000 more and had a Queen in master, old plastic shower stall, kitchen not updated and older furniture throughout. The best thing is Sonny, the owner, made sure our stay was everything we wanted. There was an issue with one set of sheets that had been delivered and Sonny took care of it immediately. Sonny is a very nice man and will take the time with whatever you need. He gave several dining recommendations that were spot on. Folly Beach is a gorgeous family beach with plenty to do for everyone. Charleston is a short easy drive with top notch Southern Living awarded and mentioned restaurants. One of our nations more historical cities with lots of things to do for all ages. Stay here and have fun!"

Blue Heron Inn Travel Tips

Blue Heron Inn Condo Rentals are in the Heart of the Folly Beach Curiosities

Like every small town in America, Folly Beach, South Carolina offers several local curiosities. These are things that add color and excitement to an area and help to make this country not only unique but distinctly American. Folly Beach vacation rentals and Blue Heron Inn condo rentals put you right in the middle of the fun and make visiting all of these unique attractions easy and accessible.

What is the Deal with The Boat?

Blue Heron Inn beach rentals put you close to a de facto memorial to Hurricane Hugo, The Boat is an interesting local oddity. Hugo brought the boat to shore and no one ever claimed it. About a year after it was left on shore someone had the brilliant idea to paint a message on it. That message was followed by another and another and now The Boat is a local art installation of sorts. It gets periodically repainted and is subsequently refilled with messages.

Headless Body on Folly Beach?!

Blue Heron beach rentals may be close to all the action but are free of headless bodies. The same can't be said about the west end of Folly Beach. In 1987 a construction excavation unearthed 14 headless bodies. All but one were buried with the top end facing west. Union Army Eagle buttons were also found in the grave site as well as the bullets from a Civil War era rifle. There have been several theories presented as to why these bodies were all missing their heads (you can ponder as well from the comfort of home at Blue Heron Inn condo rentals) but no definitive solution was ever found. This mystery, combined with the artistry of The Boat, make Folly Beach a unique place to spend your vacation.
