  • Family Time on Folly Beach

"We chose this property for a family reunion. The group included my wife and me, our two sons and wives with three grandchildren and our exchange student and family from Finland. The house is a perfect location from town and right on the beach. The house felt like it had been in our family for years and we settled right in for a great week. Plenty of nooks and crannies and toys to keep 5 children (2-9 years) occupied both in the house and at the beach. Come relax at Folly and enjoy the beach with your family."

  • Beautiful views, great location

"A few days prior to our arrival, I also received a similar email to the previous reviewer that the third floor shower was out of service. This posed a problem for us also because we rented the house at a nice premium for ALL of the amenities. With 1/2 of the sleeping area without a shower this caused some issues during our stay. On Monday night, the AC stopped working on the third floor (5 beds) and the temps rose to about 87*. The manager told us the plumber would be by sometime but that she couldn't make it to the house and to just leave a key for him! Are you kidding me? I don't feel comfortable just leaving a key and possibly coming back to a cleaned our house. So we wasted a day by waiting for the plumber to come and fix the AC. When he arrived, he was extremely pleasant and informed us that he responds to the house regularly because the HVAC system isn't maintained by the owners and it clogs up. He was in and out within 15 minutes! In my opinion, the managers should put in some money for maintenance and repair work (peeling paint, minor Sheetrock work, knobs on dressers falling off, loose door handles) for the price you pay to stay at the house. The rest of the week was great. We rented the house with family for our wedding and the first floor is very open and had our rehearsal dinner there. Great kitchen (just bring food and drinks...everything else is there). The pool is a little small and shallow (5' max), but it was a huge hit with everyone who stayed at the house. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off from the beach before entering the pool or house. The only thing I'd suggest is that they put in a bathroom in the garage so you don't track pool water into the kitchen to use the main floor half bath. The backyard and pool area was extremely private. The garage was huge and the elevator was a great amenity. In our arrival email, I was given the key box code for one house key. We later found another key in the kitchen. We had to request the code to open the garage doors and the rear door to the pool. Maybe the manager could include this in future guests emails. I would also include some instructions for the sound system. The bedrooms were spacious. The linens were fresh and new. There were no strange odors in the house. Very clean house. Overall our stay was good and I'd stay again."

  • A great house for a family attending a wedding

"The Sea Spot served our needs perfectly! Our daughter was married at the Island House on John's Island, and we booked the whole house, upstairs and down, so that we could bring along the whole family. With 6 bedrooms, two kitchens, and three baths, we had plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the week. It was also a tremendous help that we were able to rent from Wednesday to Wednesday, which gave us time before and after the wedding to share time with family. If you are only booking half the house, here are the differences: the downstairs is a bit more dressy than the upstairs, and also a bit more shady which equates to a bit cooler. The upstairs is much sunnier and a little more casual. The views are wonderful from the upstairs unit. We recommend taking both!!! Another nice thing about having both units is that it allows half the group to retire while the other half stays up to giggle together. As you can tell, we had a great time! Thanks Gail and Hugh! You were wonderful hosts!"

  • Great house

"My family and I stayed at this house for eight days at Christmas time. The house was very comfortable, very clean, close to the beach and has a nice view of the marsh. The communication with the owner was very easy and my questions were answered quickly. I would not hesitate to recommend this house to anyone wanting to spend time in the Charleston area."
