  • A Nice Vacation

"Reviews tend to be overly positive or negative, so I am writing this as objectively as possible. The house itself is a typical beach rental with lots of room. Most of the bedrooms are on the "first" floor with a master on the "main" or second floor. The great room has an ajoining dining area with a big table which was great for our group of 9. (One word of caution regarding the stairs; it's a long way up for older folks who may not be as mobile as they once were.) We have stayed at different houses at different beaches over the years and I have to say the view of the marsh from the deck is wonderful, with epic sunsets. Beach access is easy through a vacant lot a few doors south, and is much quicker than walking north to the "real" access point. One great thing about Folly Beach, particularly the north end, is how less crowded it is compared to most places. You have tons of room to put up your own awing/umbrella/whatever and not bother anyone else. The house itself was in okay material condition, but some cosmetic work is needed. Stuff like a towel ring pulled out of the wall and some broken door jams need to get fixed, but with a summer's worth of wear and tear, that type of thing is not unexpected. The only problem we had with the house was that the two gas tanks were empty (one right in the middle of cooking). This type of thing shouldn't be left up to the renter to go deal with, which is how it was recommended to me (pay for the gas/get reimbursed). Overall, it was a really nice vacation and I would recommend this place to anyone."

  • Elisnona

"We stayed for a full week with our family of nine, one three year old....the place was very comfortable for a large family....great beach location! Overall, the place is great and i would not hesitate to stay again. The only reason for four stars instead of five.....a keyless entry would be much better, update pillows, buy some smaller spoons, and better outside seating....while none of these are deal breakers, they would be an inexpensive way to make rental better for your guests.........The registration process was very easy with no problems, however the people working for the property manager could have been nicer when we picked up the keys and when we took them back....Also, the cleaning crew could do a better job for you....it just seemed like it had been cleaned quickly... Again, this is a very nice home and we loved the location. As a home owner, i think you need to be aware of even the small problems... Especially the "face" of your rental, the property managers and the cleanliness of the home. We loved your home and enjoyed our week on folly beach. The view from the house was terrific. We saw dolphins everyday. The drive into Charleston was only about 20 minutes and an easy drive."

  • Charming bungalow!

"We've been vacationing on Folly for nearly 10 years with our 2 dogs and this was our second year in a row staying at the this classic FB bungalow. It really has everything you need and nothing you don't. It's small (2 bedrooms) but very comfortable and well-appointed. The view of the Folly river and surrounding low country from the screened-in back porch is spectacular and the hammock is great for afternoon naps. It also has a great fenced-in and spacious back yard which is perfect for pets and the outside shower (hot & cold) is always nice after a day at the beach. A large lot with lots of mature live oaks and landscaping add to the character of the house and helps to keep it shaded and cool during the day. In addition the beach is a very short walk (approx 200yds) from the front door. Low country view, close beach proximity, pet friendly, well-appointed, and quiet. Renters for the next few months should take note that the lot next door has 2 houses being built which brings the usual construction noise but nothing too bad. Can't wait to come back next year!"

  • Double Stack was Triple Fun

"We loved our week at Folly Beach and staying at the Double Stack. The home was clean and ready when we arrived on the island. The kitchen was the best stocked in any house we have ever stayed in (only could have used a cheese grater), great chairs on the deck for ocean viewing and all appliances worked like a charm. We enjoyed being a bit further north on the beach where we could easily walk to the end of the island (to see the lighthouse) and were away from the hustle and bustle closer to town and the larger rental sites. As stated it was an easy drive into Folly Beach downtown, scenic Charleston and to/from the airport. We would love to return next year."
