  • Great Family Beach House

"We came all the way from Ohio to stay at this beach house for a week We had two couples, 5 kids between us (21, 18. 15, 13 and 7) and Nana. And my sister's senior lab mix Lady. We all had a fabulous time. My husband kept saying "it's all about the decks". This house has fabulous views from every floor. We loved cooking our dinner on the rooftop deck and watching the sunsets. Even on the deck there is enough room to spread out. We had an "80's dance party" one night and enjoyed my son's 80's dance music track while the husband's cooked the nights dinner on the grill. Even Nana who thought the stairs would be difficult at first got used to coming"up to the top" each night. Keep in mind, there ARE alot of stairs - one big flight to get to each level. Nana was a trooper and if you have an elderly person and they take their time they should be fine. Nana and the two girls stayed in the "big kid room" which has two bunk beds and a pull out sofa. My sister and I and our husbands each had a very nice bedroom to ourselves. The boys camped out in the living room where there was enough room to sleep on the couch and put two blow up beds. The kitchen was big enough for us to move around and cook. The dog was nice and cool during the day in the house and she enjoyed coming out on the deck for the cool breeze. We did rent the golf cart from Ben who is a delightful, polite young man. We were able to haul our many tents and chairs to the beach entrance (just a few doors down) and take Nana down so she would not have to walk. It was alot of fun to drive the cart into town and shop and the boys took it in one afternoon for a "boys pizza day" which is a tradition when the girls went into Charleston. The girls also took the cart into town for shopping and frozen yogurt. The yogurt shop is modeled after "sweet frog" and we had a yummy afternoon treat after our shopping and then jumped on the cart for a short drive back to the house. Loved the house Cole. Thank you so much for everything. Hope to see you again next year!!"

  • Follynesia Bungalow is OUTSTANDING

"My husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and our first no children vacation in 20 years! This was outstanding. It was perfect for us. We loved how private it felt with the shade of the trees and the outdoor space was fabulous. When you go thru the back yard and thru the gate you are steps away from absolutely stunning beach. Unfortunately we are auto-early risers. But that so worked in our favor because the sunrises were spectacular and we had the bonus of seeing dolphins. The location is perfect, for low key and beach and then accesible to Center Street. It's a bit of a walk to town so we highly recommend renting bikes if you plan to go back and forth. We did and rode out to the beach near the lighthouse. Very cool. We would also strongly recommend Sweetwater Cafe for breakfast on James Island between Folly and Charleston. We spit our time and also stayed in Downtown Charleston. If I had it to do over, I would have stayed in Follynesia the whole week! Charleston is really accessible as are the other beach areas, no need to move. The location and the atmosphere enable you to have whatever type of vacation you choose- Relaxed and low key, tourist or party time, or all of the above. We will look for another opportunity to come back. Thanks to Johnny for sharing this home with us."

Sea Life Abounds

The area is a treasure for the nature and animal lover. You may catch a glimpse of the endangered bald eagle flying high if you keep your eyes peeled, or the loggerhead turtles. Of course, you may stop in your beach combing tracks when you realize that those are dolphins jumping out of the water!

Fun at Fishing

One of the delights of staying in one the Folly Beach beach rentals is barbecuing and cooking your own meals. Try your hand at seafood -- a South Carolina specialty. Cook your own catch of the day when you take advantage of the many fishing opportunities.

Teach your kids how to bait a hook and cast a line at the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. The pier is more than 1,000 feet long, so there is plenty of space for whiling away an early morning or twilight waiting for the fish to bite. If the kids don't have fishing rods, don't worry. You can rent one from the shop right there on the pier. There is also a restaurant where you can grab a quick cup of coffee.

Other fishing options are renting a boat or going on a deep-sea charter fishing trip. Then, at one of the Folly Beach vacation rentals, you can fry up your catch any way you like!
