  • Great Location and Well Kept

"This was our 2nd visit at the Shimmee Shack and was even better than the 1st. This home has everything you could want in a rental. What we like best is the location to Bert's, Center Street and the beach. A huge plus is that is only 20 minutes to Charleston. Donna has added some new furniture and a nice built in emtertainment center. If you looking for something with a great beach vibe, please don't hesitate to book the Shimee Shack! We'll be back."

  • great week

"My husband and I just returned from 5 days/4 nights in this condo. The pictures represented itself completely. There were no surprises. The size was perfect for the 2 of us, the beds were very comfortable and the condo was very tastefully decorated. Everything we needed was there. We loved the fact that everything was within walking distance. We also enjoyed Skipper Jack's, the music, and meeting the staff. When we arrived on Sunday, yes, there was someone in our parking spot. But, as stated by the owner, we called the number given and the car was towed quickly. If you want to be where the action is and within walking distance, stay here. We are in our mid 50's and still enjoy having fun. We will stay here again. Thank you for sharing your property!"

  • Great week in Folly Beach!

"The house is in a perfect location.Sitting on a corner lot with direct access to a beach crosswalk- the ocean was audible from the front porch! This is an older house, but is very charming. There is no dishwasher. We enjoyed all the beach equipment available at the house-especially the bicycles! There are very few issues with this house. We had an issue with ants in the kitchen, and had difficulty reaching the owners with questions. Also-the shades in the home are the bamboo style, and do not block any sight directly into the home. this includes the bedroom with two twin beds. We enjoyed the beach and will definitely visit Folly again."

  • Lovely Time at this Homey Beach Cottage!!

"My dad, sister and I had a wonderful week at Folly Beach, and much of that was because of our ideal beach cottage! Ann and her husband checked in with us the first day and followed up afterwards to make sure everything was in tip-top shape (it was!). The location can't be beat. Folly Beach generally is a blast and is very convenient to Charleston and surrounding areas (not that you even need to leave Folly!), and this house is perfectly located on Folly. It's not too far from the restaurants, bars, and shops downtown, but it's also a very quiet and shady part of Folly that feels wonderfully peaceful. The house itself is a stone's throw from the beautiful beach, which is visible off the front deck. We spent lots of time hanging out, reading, eating, practicing yoga, etc on the deck, which had a nice bit of shade. The interior of the house is super comfortable. My sister eventually just spent every night on the couch because it was sooo comfy. The bedrooms are great. The smallest was a little too small and got a bit hot for sleeping (no ceiling fan) but the others were bright and airy, and having three rooms was great because everyone got some privacy and had plenty of space. The kitchen was huge and was our favorite room. We spent a good bit of time cooking and hanging out there. I highly recommend heading to Crosby Fish and Shrimp (right near the Folly bridge) and picking up a super-fresh catch to cook while you're staying here!! You should also do a kayak trip with Charleston Kayak Company while you're there. We did an amazing salt marsh tour with Luke and it was our favorite activity. Coming back to the house for a nice nap afterward was just the ticket. :) We would love to stay here again on our next trip back to our new favorite beach!"

Sea Life Abounds

The area is a treasure for the nature and animal lover. You may catch a glimpse of the endangered bald eagle flying high if you keep your eyes peeled, or the loggerhead turtles. Of course, you may stop in your beach combing tracks when you realize that those are dolphins jumping out of the water!

Fun at Fishing

One of the delights of staying in one the Folly Beach beach rentals is barbecuing and cooking your own meals. Try your hand at seafood -- a South Carolina specialty. Cook your own catch of the day when you take advantage of the many fishing opportunities.

Teach your kids how to bait a hook and cast a line at the Edwin S. Taylor Fishing Pier. The pier is more than 1,000 feet long, so there is plenty of space for whiling away an early morning or twilight waiting for the fish to bite. If the kids don't have fishing rods, don't worry. You can rent one from the shop right there on the pier. There is also a restaurant where you can grab a quick cup of coffee.

Other fishing options are renting a boat or going on a deep-sea charter fishing trip. Then, at one of the Folly Beach vacation rentals, you can fry up your catch any way you like!
