"First impressions were huge in this home. Walk up to the front door and turn around and you have an amazing view of the Marsh, open the door and look straight ahead and you have an even more amazing view of the ocean. During our drive out to the house from town, down Ashley Avenue, we were admiring the houses along the way and noticed several homes with "Beach Front Views" from across the main road or through another house. Not this home, This ocean front home is as ocean front as it gets. A screened in deck on one half and an open deck on the other both with the same incredible view of the Ocean. Waking up to the sunrise and sitting on the screened deck watching our son play and admire the ocean were our most memorable times in the house. The Owners thought of everything for their guests, leaving us to only need to pick up some food and drink for the stay and we felt at home. There was a Charcoal Grill under the house we used to cook some fresh catch fish we picked up at Crosby's just off the island. There is a picnic table down there and is a nice little spot to gather at night and grill/ listen to the ocean. The Cons: -I don't know if it was the time of year or if this is just how it is at Folly Beach but the Sand Fleas were bad at the beach and on the decks, bring some bug spray with you or buy some in town. -Some of the windows were fogged up or something inside the window casings, this kind of took away from the view. -Town is not within walking distance, it is a 5-10 minute drive. We kind of knew this ahead of time so it wasn't a surprise but it is something to be aware of. On the other hand, you are far enough from the hotel and condos to avoid busy beaches. All in all we feel like we got a bargain with this house and would LOVE stay here again."

  • AWESOME PLACE AND LOCATION

"We had three families-two with small children-there was plenty of space, comfortable accomedations and a very short walk to the beach. It had a washer and dryer (which came in very handy), as well as a full kitchen. We will stay there again."

  • Bunko Babe

"After 5 years of staying in this house with 11 (sometimes 12) women, I can't say enough about Black Magic. It is well stocked, comfortable (has the old beach cottage feel) and all you need to have a great beach experience. Located near the west end of the island away from the large crowds is also great."

  • Follynesia Bungalow is OUTSTANDING

"My husband and I were celebrating our 20th anniversary and our first no children vacation in 20 years! This was outstanding. It was perfect for us. We loved how private it felt with the shade of the trees and the outdoor space was fabulous. When you go thru the back yard and thru the gate you are steps away from absolutely stunning beach. Unfortunately we are auto-early risers. But that so worked in our favor because the sunrises were spectacular and we had the bonus of seeing dolphins. The location is perfect, for low key and beach and then accesible to Center Street. It's a bit of a walk to town so we highly recommend renting bikes if you plan to go back and forth. We did and rode out to the beach near the lighthouse. Very cool. We would also strongly recommend Sweetwater Cafe for breakfast on James Island between Folly and Charleston. We spit our time and also stayed in Downtown Charleston. If I had it to do over, I would have stayed in Follynesia the whole week! Charleston is really accessible as are the other beach areas, no need to move. The location and the atmosphere enable you to have whatever type of vacation you choose- Relaxed and low key, tourist or party time, or all of the above. We will look for another opportunity to come back. Thanks to Johnny for sharing this home with us."
