  • Great for 2 People

"I would recommend this property to a party of 2 max only. The condo is nicely furnished and decorated but the pullout sofas are extremely uncomfortable. We had to go buy a foam pad from Target to make the sofa usable as a bed. The management company is very responsive and checked in with us a couple of times. Also, the beach was very crowded at the unit. Lots of families with young children. We ended up going over to Sullivan's Island a couple of days for a quieter beach."

  • Nice home, great location, but a few small issues

"We have vacationed in Wild Dunes for 14 years and have stayed in lots of different homes. This was our first time staying in Fairway Oaks. We loved the location - middle of WD and really close to beach access. The area was very peaceful and quiet, even with construction on the house next door. The decor was mostly updated and comfortable. However.... There were some weird things about the house. The biggest thing is that the nicest, largest bathroom is on the first floor while the master bedroom is upstairs. The bathroom that is next to the master bedroom (only room with king bed and walk-in closet) had less storage and a much smaller shower with minimal water pressure. It felt strange that our kids had a much nicer bathroom than we did. Also, the house was not as clean as I would expect from WD. It needed a good dusting, and the floors didn't seem like they had been mopped in a while. We found someone's toiletry bag in a drawer of the upstairs bathroom. It seemed weird that housekeeping didn't notice it. There is a small bathroom on the ground floor that would have been great to use after coming off the beach. We weren't able to use it, however, because it had never been cleaned from a previous guest. A dirty washcloth was on the floor, along with shampoo bottles and trash. I told the girl at WD office, and she offered to have someone clean it. We declined since we were already settled in. She assured me the bathroom would get cleaned on Wednesday during our mid-week cleaning. The cleaning was basically a bathroom straightening and a change of towels. Floors still needed a good mopping, and the dirty bathroom was untouched. We were not impressed AT ALL with the cleaning staff. Overall, the house was nice, but I don't think we would stay there again. It just wasn't our favorite, and there are lots of other options at that price point. The cleaning issue definitely sealed the deal for us."

  • Great beach vacation, yet in a secluded neighborhood

"We have visited Wild Dunes many times and enjoy experiencing the personalities of the various properties and neighborhoods. This house is in very good condition, and is well stocked for those, like us, who enjoy spending time at home and cooking together. There was a beautiful outside grill we used more than once. The walk to the beach was very manageable, so the fact that the home was in a quiet community gave us the best of both worlds. My elderly mother joined us and was able to utilize her walker throughout most of the house, along with using the master shower which had a small step in and a less slippery rock floor. For those wishing for more action, the Pavilion was within walking distance as well. I will emphasize that small children or the elderly would find both distances difficult, but they worked well for myself, my husband, and daughter, who are avid walkers. Of course, renting a golf cart is always an option. The living area and sunroom were comfortable as were the beds. Our goal was a retreat type vacation, so we did not indulge in any adventures, but there are plenty of opportunities on the island and within Wild Dunes with the sports card. My husband took in a round of golf on the dunes and was thrilled with the course and views. Our family is challenged with allergies and find comfort vacationing on IOP, having easy access to fine restaurants savvy with dietary limitations, and groceries easily available from Harris Teeter. Mt. Pleasant also offers Trader Joes and Whole Foods for even more fresh and allergen free options. We always take in a sunrise and were blessed with ocean beauty and much wildlife, including a family if four deer in the dunes. Overall, we would definitely consider this rental again. It was clean, well furnished, and private. Wild Dunes never disappoints; the facility is meticulously kept and the complex is a calm and safe atmosphere."
