  • Perfect in every way!

"Perfect in every way as described! My wife and I spent our 40th Anniversary here at Port O Call a couple of weeks ago. The condo was amazing, the pictures are just as the condo truly is, but what the pictures don’t relay is the comfort of this condo. Everything is provided, and there is nothing like sitting on the patio with the fabulous view of the ocean and listening to the waves. And a walk on the beach definitely soothes the soul! Allen, the owner was easy to contact with any questions we had and also gave us fabulous suggestions for restaurants. We ate at the Morgan Creek Grille for our anniversary dinner, the food was wonderful as well as the service and view – I would highly recommend! A couple of tips: the store at the Marina is just a few minutes away and they have everything a small convenience store would have including a fabulous array of souvenirs … clothes, T-shirts to remember your visit by, just about anything imaginable for memories of your stay at Isle of Palms. Also, if you arrive by air in Charleston, you’ll see ads for Hyman’s Seafood, a Charleston favorite. Best raw oysters and hush puppies ever! While in Charleston we also did a harbor cruise and then, the following day, we created our own self guided walking tour to explore Charleston. Both were so convenient to Isle of Palms. What a wonderful Anniversary at Port O Call ! We can’t wait to return!"

  • Great time was had by all

"This beach house is in a great location and had a perfect layout for our group of 4 adults and 1 child. It was a short walk to the beach and the community pool was just around the corner. The owners were most generous with sharing many amenities in the house-they truly tried to think of anything a guest might need. The house was equipped with many towel racks and hooks, which is so helpful in getting those beach towels dry. Isle of Palms is a beautiful island and this little Victorian village is just exceptional. Charleston is a short ride away and there is much to do in the area. We had a wonderful week at this house. Working with the girls at the rental agency was a breeze--they were most accommodating. (There was not a beach wagon when we visited and the golf cart was sadly not part of the package 😥)"

  • Great except that it's not what I would consider "wheelchair accessible"

"The only difficulty we had was negotiating the bathroom situation with my mother-in-law. The main reason I rented this unit was that the VRBO site said that it was "wheelchair accessible." I'm not sure what definition they use for deeming it that way, but I was disappointed to find that the doorways to the bathrooms were quite narrow, and there were no grab bars anywhere. Generally wheelchair-accessible units have wider doorways and grab bars. My 93-year-old mother-in-law can only walk with a walker for short distances, and uses a transport wheelchair for any distance. The doorway to the master bathroom was too narrow for either her walker or her wheelchair; the same was true for the doorway into the other bathroom from the twin bedroom. The only bathroom doorway we could fit her through was the one off the hallway, which was barely wide enough for her wheelchair if we took off the foot supports, which we had to do each time she went in there. So it was a bit of a hassle but we made it work. The only other problem we had at first until I figured out how to fix it was that the bathtub doors in the hallway bathroom were off track, so we couldn't figure out how to close these doors to take a shower. After some struggle I figured out what the problem was and got these doors back on their tracks, so they now work fine. The pleasant surprise, on the other hand, was that the kitchen was the best equipped we'd ever seen in a rental unit, and we've stayed in a number of these. We were amazed at the full set of knives, pots and pans, and variety of cooking utensils and devices -- even a blender! It was fabulous! We especially enjoyed sitting out on the screened porch overlooking the pool and the ocean. Very delightful. We would definitely stay again. However, our one request/suggestion would be the installation of a grab bar in the hallway bathroom on the short wall opposite the toilet between the bathtub and the door to the twin room. It would have greatly reduced the bathroom issue we had with my mother-in-law. All in all, though, a very positive experience."
