  • Lovely, Relaxing, Home

"Our family of three and our fluffy friend spend a week in this beautiful home. My sister and friend from SC came for one night, and our youngest daughter and her husband came for three nights. The pictures posted do not do this lovely home justice. It was very clean and very well maintained. I would highly recommend this property to a friend or relative. In fact, we hope to be able to rent from Richard again next year. We loved the proximity to Charleston and ate at the Hominy Grill one night. It was absolutely delicious. We also ate at Reds at Bohicket and Stono Market & Tomato Shed (delicious tomato pie and squash casserole). The Freshmarket is so convenient and so is Rosebank Farm (great local shrimp). Thank you again Richard for allowing us to rent your lovely home. We all had a great week."

  • Hidden Gem in Historic Charleston Neighborhood

"We stayed in the cottage for five nights, coming into town to visit my best friend who had recently moved here. This was our first time renting with VRBO, so I had no idea what to expect, but all was beyond expectations. We are from Wisconsin, which had already transitioned into fall weather-wise, so the warm and humid week found my husband testing the cottage's air conditioning, which worked perfectly (I was happy to find extra blankets in a closet for myself). We brought our dog along and drove, so this cottage was really a find because they allow dogs, have a yard, and have gated parking. It is well-located, within a few minutes walk of the south end of King Street and two blocks from the battery, with easy access to the freeways, as well. It is also very well-appointed and super clean, with lovely linens, antiques, a washer and dryer (sooooo convenient), one and half bathrooms, and very comfortable furnishings, as well as a full kitchen with pots, pans, etc. It was nice to have the ability to cook, and there is a lovely, small, family-run grocery store within a few blocks walk. We also really enjoyed the front porch to hang out on with coffee or wine (If I had one high-maintenance suggestion, it would be to put a wicker sofa or similar out on the porch for lounging - that or a plunge pool - haha). The neighborhood was very safe, and we enjoyed taking late night walks with our golden retriever after the day had cooled off. The owners who live in the main hour adjacent to the cottage (former boathouse) have two beautiful black labs. The scenery is gorgeous right out the front door and the photos do not do it justice. If you are traveling with a dog or driving and enjoy a more serene setting, with spacious accommodations, and are respectful/responsible, then this rental is perfect. The neighborhood is full of families, so this might not be best for those who come to Charleston for the party scene. Also, if you hate to walk, then downtown Charleston in general is not going to be your cup of tea, although cabs and pedi-cabs/rickshaws are available). We are not party animals and like to get lost in a city on foot, so enjoyed feeling a little like locals as the carriage tours rambled past, which was fun, as well as soaking up the feel of the area. Overall, we loved our stay here and plan to book again, assuming there is availability and its lovely hostess takes us back! :)"

  • Excellent beach house

"Just got back from an amazing vacation in this beautiful rental home. We had 3 families in this home and there were beds for everyone. The pool was great and the beach access couldn't have been better. We had kids ranging from 8-1 yrs old, and all of them had a great time. The living room is big enough that there can be multiple activities going on at one time. The only downsides were a couple of cockroaches in the kitchen area(none found anywhere else in the house), and the pool was a little dirty, but we all found these to be minor set backs to a wonderful vacation. I would definitely book this house again!"

  • Excellent Vacation rental

"This was our 4th year staying at this beautiful home. Excellent location with plenty of room for the kids to play and adults to relax. Highly recommend this home as it is well furnished and the owner always checks to ensure everything is okay. You can enjoy your vacation and not have to worry about anything. Easy walking distance to the beach, which is great for evening walks."
