"Two years ago we stayed at Marc's nearby home, which is fantastic too! But 5 enclosed bedrooms worked better for us this year. We were two "elders," 8 young adults (28-39), and 6 little people (6,3,3,2,11 mo, 3 mo)(and our golden, and a boy friend's dog). The house was perfect for us. The divided sections really helped at bedtime. Not noted in the description is that each bedroom has its own full bath. The two downstairs were available for others too. Everything was very comfortable, nicely stocked, two fridges, and a pool table were great bonuses! Of course the outside can't be beat! Beautiful beach!!! Right there! Could see dolphins from the deck! The decks, screened in porch with swing, beautiful pool with hot tub, bikes, lawn chairs for all, all was great! One reviewer mentioned the birds in the huge pine tree in front of the house. Two days we saw a bald eagle there and two days we saw an osprey!
All that said, all that really adds to an enjoyable vacation experience, it was just so much fun! So magical! Our grandkids wanted to stay forever, and one three year old repeatedly said " this is my best day ever!" On the beach looking for sea finds, building sand castles, flying kites, and running about at twilight were fantastic. The twilight moments were the magical ones! Fun ideas: having a treasure hunt with a find for each child, drawing "tracks" in the sand for the 2-3 year olds to run along, bringing fairy or bug wings for the night runs, going to Lawton Stables for pony rides and the free petting farm, and more!
We older ones found the hot tub great in the evenings, walks on the beach, just being together (with lots of room for not being on top of each other too), etc. Our dog is almost 12, but she's like a puppy on the beach! Hilton Head is great for dogs, and the fall weather is pleasant for them and humans.North Forest Beach is so close to things too. Yet the house is on a little street and nicely secluded. We all loved it! Thanks to Marc for everything (including mailing a power cord for a baby monitor to my son's family!) We'll be back! Watch for burrs on the trail; wear shoes!"
