"My friends were recently married at Palmetto Bluff and this house was rented for myself and three other friends and we had such an amazing time, this past week has been spent texting about when we can go back. The house is so beautifully appointed, and we used everything--the fabulous kitchen for breakfasts, the back grill and screened porch for late night snacks and socializing, plus the resorts pools and other facilities. PERFECT for families and single friends who want a chill and relaxing getaway."

"A group of couples spent a weekend in Palmetto Bluff to celebrate my 40th birthday. Three couples stayed in this house and three more stayed diagonal across the street in a second house Arlene manages. This was the perfect setup for us! The location of this house is perfect and the living room and two cozy porches are great places to relax. The two king bedrooms were perfect and the third couple had the entire upstairs with a view of the golf course and a cute little desk area, too. There was an extra bedroom upstairs that we didn't use but would be perfect for children. We took suggestions from Arlene for almost everything and she never led us wrong! She had bikes ready for us and we rode into the village for wood fired pizza from Buffalo's and checked out an art show. The next day we paddle boarded, kayaked, played tennis, and took Arlene's suggestion to eat lunch by the adult pool. Dinner was delicious at the Canoe Club. We're also glad we took her advice to ride bikes to the adult treehouse and have a picnic. All of the amenities here are amazing! Palmetto Bluff is the most beautiful setting and this house is the perfect place to enjoy it all from!"

"If you are looking for that perfect, quiet, off-the-beaten path rental home, this is definitely the place for you! Having been to the HHI and Bluffton area before, we were seeking a nice, quiet location on this trip to just get away, relax, read, sleep in and not have a set agenda. You can't get much more quiet and relaxing than the Devil's Elbow Cottage on Bears Island! The only thing that "disturbed" our peace during our week were the many bird songs, squirrels and shore birds. The screened in porch was a perfect spot for morning coffee, an afternoon nap and evening cocktails as the sun was going down. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the view from the master bedroom is beyond description!
The cottage is really a well-appointed house next to the main house at the end of an island, separated only by a thin, dirt road that crosses the salt marsh. Its a bit off the beaten path, needing to enter via Colleton River Plantation, but its well worth it. The distance to 278 could only have been 4-5 miles or so as the crow flies, but we felt a world away. The best part about where the cottage is located is that you can be right in the heart of the HHI/Bluffton action in about 5-10 minutes!
The house was very clean, well decorated and had everything you would need to spend a nice long week in solitude. Peter and Leisa were wonderful to work with in getting the reservation locked in, gave us great driving directions, had a bunch of good recommendations for dining and activities and respected our privacy...but were very accommodating when needed. We felt truly fortunate to have the opportunity to experience this treasure! I can only hope that we will have the opportunity to return someday!"

"As frequent renters of this particular home, I can honestly say that it is the best of the Bluff. We are continuously impressed with how well appointed and meticulously maintained it is - thanks in large part to Arlene, the very friendly agent who manages the unit and lives close by. The furnishings in this home set it apart from others I have seen. They are sophisticated and substantial - with no "wicker beach furniture" in sight. The kitchen is well-stocked with solid pots & pans and Henckel knives - a nice addition given that we like to relax and grill most nights. With two young kids in tow, we very much appreciate the new (big, full-size!) washer/dryer and the awesome location of this home - just steps away from our nightly ritual of s'mores over an open fire at the Inn. Time and time again, this home is consistently well-maintained, with none of the common annoyances that befall rental properties...the coffee maker works, the TV works, there are plenty of extra towels/measuring spoons/scissors/napkins/wine glasses - you name it. Just settle right in and enjoy the incredible beauty and simplicity of Palmetto Bluff. A perfect home away from home."
