"We had a wonderful time on Daufuskie Island. The beaches on the island are beautiful. The cottage was comfortable and clean and only a short walk to the ocean. You can tell the owners take good care of the cottage and we felt at home there. I especially enjoyed the back porch facing the golf course and marsh. The grounds at Melrose on the Beach are amazing. Lots of birds and even a few alligators that are great fun to watch from a distance :) The beach was never crowded and we even had it all to ourselves a few times which was a treat. The kids said it was there favorite beach trip ever. At low tide they explored the sand bar and found hermit crabs, star fish, and even a shrimp. The Beach Club restaurant serves an excellent dinner and while the pool was not open for swimming it was a nice one. We would definitely go back again!"

Great views, beautiful and comfortable condo, friendly islanders
"The condo is very spacious and well appointed. Everything you need to feel at home. Just like the pictures it is beautifully decorated and clean. The huge ocean view screened porch was my favorite. We played board games out there every evening.
The elevator in the building was broken while we were there so the initial haul of the luggage and supplies up the stairs was a chore but after that the exercise was appreciated.
We used May River Excursions to water taxi us over from Bluffton to the public dock at Daufuskie. Chris was so nice and accommodating. I think this is the best way to get there. We had a ton of bags and groceries and we were able to choose our departing/pick up times. Freddie from Daufuskie Transit was waiting for us at the dock and loaded our stuff in his van to take us to the condo. Freddie seems to be the BMOC on Daufuskie. He knows everything and everyone. He gave us a mini tour on the way to the condo. Great guy. He then dropped me off at Bloody Point Golf Course to pick up the golf cart rental for the week. Nice place but I might do more research on carts. Everyone was passing us in our cart. I think we had the slowest one on the island. Not a big deal, we weren't in a hurry but a little embarrassing. We had a gas four seater. We traded the second day for a Yamaha which was a little faster but still slow compared to the others zipping by us. Perhaps the electric carts would have been faster but then we would have had to charge them. Oh well, no harm.
Oh, the pool. The Beach Club food was awesome. I didn't realize in advance that there is a fee to use the pool. There was literally no one at the beautiful pool.
We had the beach to ourselves. One day there was one lady 50 yards away but the rest of the time there was no one for miles either direction. We loved the isolation. Like our own private beach. You can see Hilton Head Harbour Town lighthouse from the beach in one direction and Tybee Island off in the distance the other direction. We saw lots of wildlife including dolphins, a shark, alligators, and heard there were coyotes.
This was a great break from the fast pace of our everyday life. I would recommend and I'm not easy to please. :0)"

"I can't say enough nice things about how Jay was helpful and was quick to respond to all questions since this was our first trip to the island. Definitely recommend this property and a trip to Daufuskie for a great change of pace."
