  • WEEKEND AT LAKE

"Great house on lake, everything was as advertised, good location on water for fishing, boating, etc. Rick was very helpful. Good dock for mooring my boat. Ready to go back!!"

  • Great week at the Lake

"First of all...the owners were responsive on any/all issues as well as compassionate and forgiving. When we found out that the owners have multiple properties we feared that any issues would not be quickly addressed (not true) or that when we had a miss-hap that there would be no leniency (also not true). The lake was great and although we failed to catch any fish, that was not the focus of our time. We spent most of our time on the watercraft and swimming in the cove. We did not have the best weather, but that's mother nature. The cove remained quiet and perfectly suited to just hang out. The fire pit was actually the highlight for our two boys (10 years old and under). Having the large deck and dock will keep you busy outside. The wifi was strong and quick. Television stations were plentiful. Kitchen was well stocked and we didn't want for anything. Everything worked as it should have. The selection of kayaks plus jet ski and pontoon left us feeling like we conquered Lake Murray (we also brought our own floats and inflatables). Would not have changed our trip but good to know: 1. It's a good distance to the water from the house. There is a gravel driveway that will get you down there if you must drive. It is a bit of a grade but we had no problem walking it multiple times a day. When we had a full cooler or day's worth of supplies, we were happy to have a car option to help carry the load. 2. If you plan to spend most of your time inside, the couches aren't the most comfortable and the living room could get cramped if you have a full house. This was not an issue for us...we only had 2 adults/2 kids there full time and 2 add'l adults part time. Besides, we were there for the lake and were only inside when it rained or when we were exhausted. (all the other rooms were plenty big even if you were at capacity) 3. Gasoline for the watercraft. Let me be clear, the owners provide high-end gas cans which provides you an opportunity to save money by being self-service. The gas station is close so the drive is not an issue. All that being said, you will be surprised how much gas is used having fun! Multiple trips take a lot of work, the gas cans are tricky to operate alone and when it is all done you may wish you just pulled into a marina and paid someone else."

"We had a great time at this lovely lakehouse. It was very relaxing and the weather was perfect. The house was neat and clean. One of the fans on the porch was loose but it wouldn't take much to fix that."

The balcony has awesome views which allows you to look out over the pool and lake area privately. We really enjoyed our stay and we would recommend this condo to our friends and family. We will be back next year."

Lakefront Central South Carolina Vacation Rentals

While many people think of a beach vacation or seeing the sights of Charleston, South Carolina for a vacation, they would be missing a beautiful retreat in the state, known as the Lake and Blackwater River areas. Lake Greenwood, Lake Marion, Lake Monticello, Lake Moultrie, Lake Wylie, Aiden and Camden are just some of the idyllic places to spend a week. The southern hospitality that is so well known will be in abundance when you stay in Central South Carolina vacation rentals. You can expect to find properties with lovely views of the lakes, fully equipped kitchens, and plenty of room for family and friends. These comfortable VRBO homes can accommodate large groups if you are looking for a place to host your next family reunion. There is a price range to fit any budget so come to South Carolina to indulge in outdoor activities or just lounge on your private deck.

Reaching Central South Carolina Lake Rentals

If you fly into South Carolina, you could arrive at Columbia which is in the center of the state. From Columbia, you would take Highway 20 to reach the vacation rentals of Aiken, Lake Murray, Abbeville, Lake Greenwood or Lexington. Then from this major highway, you would get on a smaller state road such as 25 or 221. These roads bring you close to Sumter National Forest. If you use Highway 26 out of Columbia going southeast, you will find the VRBO rentals in Lake Marion, Lake Moultrie, or Santee which can also be reached by using Interstate 95. You could even follow Interstate 26 into Charleston for a day trip.

Theater, Watersports and Horses Await Guests of Central South Carolina Lodging

Opera fans can visit the historic Abbeville Opera House that was built in 1908 in the Town Square. The theater has been restored and offers a broad range of performances so that you can enjoy an evening out from your Central South Carolina lodging. If Aiken, South Carolina interests you, there is a thoroughbred race track for you to visit. Polo is played at the track and you can enjoy watching the horses train for races. If you want to go riding, there are bridle or carriage paths that wind through Hitchcock Woods.

About 17 miles south of Aiken is a Living History Park that features buildings of the 18th century as well as a natural spring. You can bring a picnic lunch from your comfortable house as the park is open every day from dawn to dusk. Of course, nothing compares to beating the heat of a South Carolina summer like a dip in the many lakes that are in the area. You will find your luxury lake house has its own dock for you to relax on or park your boat next to. When you are ready to book your vacation, you can inquire from the owner if your rental will have kayaks, canoes, or other watersports equipment as some of them do. This only enhances the vacation experience when you can just walk down to the lake and splash to your heart’s delight.

Book Your Central South Carolina Lake Home Early

Summer is the prime vacation time in South Carolina’s Lake District. The weather is just right for lazy days spent on the water so it is best to book your lake home as soon as you can. Although summer is great, you may prefer to take advantage of the year-round rentals that are available. The off-season can give you some great rates on exceptional homes along the river, lake or in historical towns. People seeking refuge from the winter cold often realize that Central South Carolina is just where they want to be.
