  • Charming Lake Cabin

"This lake cabin is a family charmer set in the middle of a perfect peninsula that allows swimming, fishing, boating, outside yard games and grilling/BBQ'ing, etc. The yard is well manicured that allows for perfect bocce ball, corn hole, crochet, etc and is slightly sloped so is perfect for wheelchair bound individuals, cane users and the elderly for which we had 1 of each on our vacation. There's a perfect gazebo for fishing off of or just relaxing with a cocktail or cup of coffee. BBQ house with nice gas grill, characoal grill and a fish fryer. Didn't get to use fish fryer because only caught small ones and threw them back, lol, but was nice and relaxing trying for the big catch. Got to say though, did catch a huge catfish that got away :D . Loved the cabin that was filled with "boat and fishing" memomabilia that you would find/see something new everyday. It gave a nice loving family atmosphere. We rented a pontoon boat for 2 days while there from Waters Edge, Beverlee and Mart's recommendation, and had a blast. Oh, and it was perfect to finally find a place that was "pet friendly". My daughter and son-in-laws 2 pit bull girls really enjoyed their stay and it was nice not to have to "board" them during our vacation which we don't like to do, or to find family to watch them for a week. I must say to Beverlee and Mart, you were very acommodating and quick to respond to any questions we had AND for the best compliment I could give is a remark/compliment my husband gave to me. For a little background info first, I usually internet surf and find the "family vacation spot" for our trips and this is the first time I can remember he came up to me during our vacation at Turtleback Lodge and said, "You did a good job". :)"

  • Great Place for Relaxing with Friends or Family!

"A group of college friends and I have used this place for a series of small "reunions" over the last 7 years or so. The house has been sold to a new owner, but remains a great place for relaxing, swimming, boating, dining, and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. The two full length decks look out onto the water and include a nice screened in porch section. You can essentially "live" outdoors in nice weather, then retreat to the spacious interior to cook and sleep. My dealings with the owner were straightforward and cordial. All in all a great place and one that I am sure we will be returning to again!"

  • A Peace Of Mind....Priceless

"If you are looking for a quiet, peace of mind get away....you found it! This very secluded two bedroom cabin has all the amenities one could ask for. Lots of games around to keep one busy including hillbilly golf, assorted board games, horse shoes and get this, there is a disc golf course. My son was had a great time and many laughs trying to show my wife and I how to through and play disc golf! Fire place was great although we did not have any good hard wood to burn. Golf cart was a blast, Hammock very relaxing, Jacuzzi/waterfall exquisite and the "Big Green Egg" made for easy, tasty meals! Myrtle only 50 miles away and a Wal-Mart fifteen minutes from cabin. I would highly recommend this cabin to any one seeking a nice, quiet vacation with friends/family. Rodney was spot on with any of our needs or questions but seldom seen unless needed. You may perhaps see his black lab "Baby" come to cool off in the pond and then mosey on. Thanks Rodney for letting us stay at your cabin....it`s what the doctor ordered!"

  • I Hope We have found our place!

"We enjoyed this lake house better than any we have stayed in the last 5 or 6 years! The house was spotless, roomy, and the bedrooms are far enough apart not to bother others while they are resting, etc! The beachy area and swimming was the best we have ever had on the lake. The grandkids stayed in the water more than out while we were there for the extended Memorial Day weekend! We had 23 relatives up for a dinner on Sunday and had plenty of room in and outside on the patio/porches for everyone to sit down to eat! We certainly want to return next Memorial Day weekend if possible!"

While many people think of a beach vacation or seeing the sights of Charleston, South Carolina for a vacation, they would be missing a beautiful retreat in the state, known as the Lake and Blackwater River areas. Lake Greenwood, Lake Marion, Lake Monticello, Lake Moultrie, Lake Wylie, Aiden and Camden are just some of the idyllic places to spend a week. You can expect to find properties with lovely views of the lakes, fully equipped kitchens, and plenty of room for family and friends. Reaching Central South Carolina Lake Rentals

If you fly into South Carolina, you could arrive at Columbia which is in the center of the state. From Columbia, you would take Highway 20 to reach the vacation rentals of Aiken, Lake Murray, Abbeville, Lake Greenwood or Lexington. Then from this major highway, you would get on a smaller state road such as 25 or 221. These roads bring you close to Sumter National Forest. If you use Highway 26 out of Columbia going southeast, you will find the VRBO rentals in Lake Marion, Lake Moultrie, or Santee which can also be reached by using Interstate 95. You could even follow Interstate 26 into Charleston for a day trip.

Theater, Watersports and Horses Await Guests of Central South Carolina Lodging

Opera fans can visit the historic Abbeville Opera House that was built in 1908 in the Town Square. The theater has been restored and offers a broad range of performances so that you can enjoy an evening out from your Central South Carolina lodging. If Aiken, South Carolina interests you, there is a thoroughbred race track for you to visit. Polo is played at the track and you can enjoy watching the horses train for races. If you want to go riding, there are bridle or carriage paths that wind through Hitchcock Woods.

About 17 miles south of Aiken is a Living History Park that features buildings of the 18th century as well as a natural spring. You can bring a picnic lunch from your comfortable house as the park is open every day from dawn to dusk. Of course, nothing compares to beating the heat of a South Carolina summer like a dip in the many lakes that are in the area. You will find your luxury lake house has its own dock for you to relax on or park your boat next to. When you are ready to book your vacation, you can inquire from the owner if your rental will have kayaks, canoes, or other watersports equipment as some of them do. This only enhances the vacation experience when you can just walk down to the lake and splash to your heart’s delight.
