"My family had a great time staying in Aiken thanks to Jerry and his wife. He met us when we arrived to welcome us and to inform us that there were chocolate chip cookies waiting for us upstairs! They were very accommodating for us which is always wonderful, especially when traveling with kids. The apartment is upstairs with it's very own access via stairs on the outside. The kitchen was the perfect size with all the necessities for our stay. Actually, everything was the perfect size and just what we needed! lastly, the place was less than a mile from the downtown area and we easily walked there and enjoyed strolling around. We thoroughly enjoyed the rental. Thank you for our stay!"

"My husband and I came to South Carolina for our sons basic training graduation. We rented this wonderful home on the lake for 10 days :) Such a wonderful and peaceful getaway. It was close to town and shopping but yet private and quiet. The lake is gorgeous and we loved the nature. We would highly recommend this charming home for anyone looking for a safe relaxing atmosphere. :)) The owner was a delight to deal with as well. :) Say hi to the bunnies and turtles for us."

"First of all...the owners were responsive on any/all issues as well as compassionate and forgiving. When we found out that the owners have multiple properties we feared that any issues would not be quickly addressed (not true) or that when we had a miss-hap that there would be no leniency (also not true).
The lake was great and although we failed to catch any fish, that was not the focus of our time. We spent most of our time on the watercraft and swimming in the cove. We did not have the best weather, but that's mother nature. The cove remained quiet and perfectly suited to just hang out. The fire pit was actually the highlight for our two boys (10 years old and under). Having the large deck and dock will keep you busy outside. The wifi was strong and quick. Television stations were plentiful. Kitchen was well stocked and we didn't want for anything. Everything worked as it should have. The selection of kayaks plus jet ski and pontoon left us feeling like we conquered Lake Murray (we also brought our own floats and inflatables).
Would not have changed our trip but good to know:
1. It's a good distance to the water from the house. There is a gravel driveway that will get you down there if you must drive. It is a bit of a grade but we had no problem walking it multiple times a day. When we had a full cooler or day's worth of supplies, we were happy to have a car option to help carry the load.
2. If you plan to spend most of your time inside, the couches aren't the most comfortable and the living room could get cramped if you have a full house. This was not an issue for us...we only had 2 adults/2 kids there full time and 2 add'l adults part time. Besides, we were there for the lake and were only inside when it rained or when we were exhausted. (all the other rooms were plenty big even if you were at capacity)
3. Gasoline for the watercraft. Let me be clear, the owners provide high-end gas cans which provides you an opportunity to save money by being self-service. The gas station is close so the drive is not an issue. All that being said, you will be surprised how much gas is used having fun! Multiple trips take a lot of work, the gas cans are tricky to operate alone and when it is all done you may wish you just pulled into a marina and paid someone else."

"We are two couples in our 50's who all agreed that this was the most user friendly house we had ever rented. The house is huge, the kitchen is well stocked, with cooking equipment, better than our own. Everything worked, the furniture is very comfortable, and the satellite TV worked well at all the TV's. Our ONLY suggestion for improvement would be to improve the router's signal strength. The house is well maintained and Sharon responded as fast as humanly possible to our 'e'mails and returning the deposit.
The walk down to the dock is well lit and so is the dock. Know this is very deep lot so the walk down is a bit long but not steep. Like the house the dock is set up well. Could use a net as we lost our first Arkansas blue catfish... is was too big to get up on 10# line. We bought a net. There is plenty of wildlife here. Deer, geese, otters, ospreys and numerous small songbirds.
The biggest disappointment of our trip was Elloree. The stores are struggling or closed. The museum is great though. We found the best antiquing in Columbia as the Charleston area has inflated prices, but the house is an hour from either. You are within 10 minutes of stores such as the IGA in Santee, Santee General Store (a must) CVS drugstore and 5 minutes to the corner store in Vance. The Lone Star BBQ in Santee is special. We had so much fun there on Saturday night eating all the shrimp and grit we could while the band played.
In summary, if you want a vacationer friendly place to relax this is it."
