  • Peaceful Get Away

"An absolutely wonderful condo that feels like home the moment you walk through the front door. Tastefully decorated and well maintained with the coziest couch in which to relax. Love the kitchen and the huge open counter that lets you view the ocean while you cook. The screened porch is a wonderful perch to watch the sunrise and the tides coming in or going out. Feel in love with Harbor Island and the large beach for walking away the stresses of life. Do not miss this wonderful condo for your own time to get away from it all!"

  • Massachusetts Escapees

"This was our first trip to Harbor Island and the condo and area were even better than advertised! The only negative was the weather......very cold for almost the entire month but gave us pleny of opportunities to explore! We loved Hunting Island , Beaufort, and the great restaurants especially Johnson Creek, Foolish Frog, Plums, and Q on Bay! The condo was huge and the view the best in the complex......we think! We would definitely like to make a return trip!"

  • Great view!

"My family of 5 and my parents stayed here. We had enough room for the 7 of us. The house was very clean when we arrived. It had everything we needed for the week (kitchen things, towels, linens, etc). The view from the back porch was absolutely wonderful. Even sitting under the house, you could feel the best breeze coming off the marsh. Another plus was being able to walk out the front door to the pool! It was perfect for our 3 children! The golf cart was a definite plus...especially for my parents. My only recommendation is that the mattresses need to be replaced (one twin and the Q). BUT...it was okay for a week! Overall, we would stay here again. Everything was exactly as described!"

  • Wonderful location - Great Views

"The house was fantastic. We came down from Virginia for my sons graduation from Marine Corps basic training and the house was perfect for friends and family to gather and reconnect. It was a 20 min drive to MCRD, very easy, it took longer to get the thru main gate than it did to get there. The Large well stocked kitchen made cooking "real" meals a breeze. The living room area was where everyone spent most of the time, just sitting and talking, and looking out the windows at the terrific views. Unfortunately the weather was very cold the week we were there, 19 degrees one night with 40 mph winds - BRRRRR, but that didnt affect our stay one bit. Several of us did use the golf cart on one of the warmer afternoons to do a little exploring at the complex beaches. I would love to come back here when the weather is just a little warmer and spend some quality down time. Thanks so much for a great place to stay."

Harbor Island Travel Tips

Harbor Island is located 15 miles outside the city of Beaufort, South Carolina. This 1,400-acre barrier island offers visitors an escape from busy lives and a private island where they'll find peace and quiet. The island is famous for oat-covered sand dunes and coastal grasses.

Harbor Island Attractions

The resort itself has three outdoor pools, tennis courts, a putting green and three miles of sandy white beach that will give you the privacy you've been looking for in a vacation. When you spend a day out in the sand and sun, the kids will enjoy building sandcastles and splashing in the water while you catch some rays and enjoy a good book.

There's plenty of wildlife you're likely to encounter during your stay in Harbor Island. Whether you want to go for a walk along the marshes to check out the pelicans, egrets or herons, or watch the dolphins play as you relax among the sand dunes, you'll be amazed at the creatures you'll see roaming the land.

Hunting Island State Park is located near Harbor Island and an isolated spot to enjoy peace and quiet. This 5,000-acre barrier island was previously used as a hunting ground, but has since been converted into a state park. There's plenty of wildlife to be seen as well as four miles of beach, a maritime forest and a saltwater marsh. The quiet retreat is also home to a 19th century lighthouse and is the island's most popular attraction. You can climb to the top and get beautiful views of the coastline.

Things to Do in Harbor Island

Seafood: The catch of the day is the perfect dish while staying in Harbor Island. Be sure to check out some of the best restaurants in the South Carolina lowcountry including Johnson Creek Restaurant and Tavern, Bella Luna Cafe, LLC, Foolish Frog, Magnolia Bakery Cafe, MoonDoggies Cafe And Grill, Panini's Cafe and Saltus River Grill. You may even want to consider buying some fresh seafood and take it back to your Harbor Island vacation rental to make your own feast.

Outdoor recreation: Playing on the beach is the top outdoor activity for visitors to the island. Kids can learn a new trick on the boogie board, or you can try it out yourself. Rent a kayak and paddle your way out into the water and gasp at the breathtaking views of the seemingly endless ocean or the community along the shore.

St. Helena Island: Just across the bridge from Harbor Island is St. Helena Island. The island is home to Penn Center, one of the first schools that was opened to children of freed slaves. It's also the site of where Martin Luther King, Jr., drafted his "I Have a Dream" speech. There are several shrimp docks on St. Helena Island and much of the agriculture is still cultivated by native residents that descended from the island's original inhabitants. Head to downtown Frogmore where you can shop, dine and visit local art galleries.
