  • Looking forward to 2015

"This was our 3rd year returning to Anchor In and we are already planning our return in 2015! The best spot on the island, in our opinion. The beach access is right across the street, the dock just behind the house and we are close to one of our favorite spots - the north tip of the island. The best place to fish, look for shells and just have some peaceful time to yourself. We still haven't used the canoe but plan to on our next trip and do a little creek crawling, too! Who knows, we may even do a long weekend trip during the off season. That's how much we enjoy it - waiting another year for the next family week of vacation is way too long! The owners are wonderful, gracious and kind, too."

  • Fun on the Creek!

"My family enjoyed our vacation in this charming Pawley's home steeped in history. Large enough to spread out but cozy enough when coming together. I loved the kitchen and eating area that looks out onto the marsh. We were amazed at low tide by watching all the crabs scrambling around. At high tide we put our kayaks in right outside the backdoor and paddled out in the creek, easily one of our favorite activities. My mom introduced us to the joys of crabbing and my children were excited to catch several large ones. The home is filled with pictures of the beginning of Log-Inn's construction and history along with the family that grew up here. I could have spent another week just reading all the history on this amazing home. The beach is just a short walk away and was easy to get to. We were excited to be there during the beautiful Super Moon. We really didn't move our car much, lots of beach time, creek time, nap time, and family time was had by all! We hope to visit again in the future. We truly loved our time this summer at the Log-Inn."

  • Just Perfect!

"If you long for the way Southern islands used to feel, this is the place for you. Pawley's has many historic cottages that would be torn down in most other places. And Haps Up is a slice of Americana. Coming from Wrightsville Beach, NC, with loads of fast boats and giant homes with three feet between them, Haps Up will remind you of a more gracious lifestyle. On a beautiful treed lot (fortunately common on Pawley's), it is a generous home with high ceilings and cypress paneling throughout. The roar of the ocean is only a few feet from the front dock and the porch is marvelous. From soft linens to well equipped kitchen, the owners have thought of everything a traveler would need. We had a meaningful visit to an incredible place. I would recommend this to anyone I thought worthy of the experience!"

  • What a lovely condo!

"Thank you, Kate and Shawn for the use of your beautiful vacation home! The condo is spacious and comfortable with everything you need to feel at home. The proximity to the pool is great! It is so quiet and peaceful to sit on the patio in the morning and drink your coffee. We will definitely recommend this home to friends and family members in the future."

Pawleys Island Travel Tips

Pawleys Island Vacation Homes Make up the Oldest East Coast Resort Area

Within South Carolina’s Grand Strand is Pawleys Island, which proudly describes itself as “arrogantly shabby.” Pawleys Island vacation homes have been the most popular of Myrtle Beach resorts over the years. The beaches on which Pawleys Island rentals are located are mostly private and perfectly pristine. Surrounded by oodles to do, including golf, tennis, fishing, family entertainment, and tons of restaurants, it is no surprise that Pawleys Island has only grown in popularity.

Pawleys Island Rentals Are Centrally Located

Just 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach and 70 miles north of Charleston, Pawleys Island vacation homes are centrally located to two of South Carolina’s most popular destinations. In fact, many Myrtle Beach resorts extend to this area as it is known as the oldest summer resort area on the East Coast. It was in the early 1700s that rice planters settled the region by the rivers; each May they would relocate to what is now Pawleys Island. Based on this history, the charm of Pawleys Island rentals has only remained strong.

Do Not Miss the Ghostly Fun at Myrtle Beach Resorts

Perhaps because the area is so old, there are so many stories of ghosts along the shore near Pawleys Island vacation homes. One of the most famous local legends is that of the Gray Man. The Gray Man is a friendly ghost who is seen mostly when hurricanes are near and thought to warn the town of the danger. It is said that he walks the shores of Pawleys Island and the surrounding area when hurricanes are nearing. So, if you are into ghost hunts, keep your eyes open for the Gray Man.

You Will Never Be Bored at Pawleys Island Vacation Homes

Obviously, the beaches are a major draw of Myrtle Beach house rentals. However, there is so much more to enjoy when staying in Pawleys Island rentals. If you are into the nightlife, do not miss Broadway at the Beach, which consists of a huge cluster of bars, restaurants, shops, and theaters. If you are interested in aquatic life, check out Ripley’s Aquarium on Celebrity Circle; the whole family will love it. If miniature golf is your thing, you will not want to miss Mount Atlanticus.
