  • A little slice of heaven

"Just driving down the road to the house, we could feel our blood pressure drop and cares fall away. The air is so clean and the sounds of happy bird chirping away, we couldn't wait to get out of the car and breathe it all in. The main cabin is so comfortable, we didn't want to leave. Looking through the bookshelf, I found the most fascinating book on trout that I read one morning sitting on the deck with my coffee. We decided to take out the fishing poles and landed 5 fish in 45 minutes which we promptly released back. Our stay was so peaceful and everyone we met in the little towns were so nice, we can't wait to go back."

  • Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!

"My boyfriend and I stayed here and it was absolutely amazing. We enjoyed sitting on the patio in the morning with coffee and then again in the late afternoon after our day at the beach. It is peaceful and scenic - the patio offers a view of the ocean as well as the beautiful landscape. We really enjoyed feeling as if we were in a home and not just in a hotel room. It truly adds to the experience to be able to buy local fish and make meals at the house. It is a short walk to the beach which is lovely for days you don't want to drive anywhere. We even stopped at a restaurant on the way back from the beach so it was all very convenient. I fell in love with Kauai all over again during this visit. I would recommend this place and hope to return soon."

  • Awesome Vacation

"We spent a week at this lovely home and enjoyed ourselves tremendously. The accommodations were excellent and the owner of the home could not be more helpful. It is situated between two small towns with wonderful shops and restaurants or you could enjoy yourself staying home and grilling, with the pool footsteps from your room. The beach is beautiful and might as well be your own private beach, as we only occasionally saw other people. Sleeping at night, being less than half a block off the beach was wonderful listening to the waves crash. I highly recommend this rental to anyone. My only word of caution is going out on a rental boat to snorkel, it was not worth the money or time as there were no fish unless you just want to enjoy a boat ride."

  • Lovely stay

"We've stayed in a number of VRBO large-size homes, and this one is not standard. The description was quite accurate (water in this fork of the Merced River had spring run-off) and the house is lovely, but it is really run by a nearby hotel and therefore is missing some things you've come to expect from VRBO homes, such as a printed information sheet (e.g., when is garbage collected, where by buy groceries), condiments left by previous renters (not even salt and pepper), but also no damage deposit or cleaning fee, no request to strip beds and start the laundry! Service is provided daily by the hotel people -- we didn't ask for room services though they were offered, but they did provide more soap, towels, etc. Entry is handicap-accessible and master suite is on main floor. There is no washer or dryer, no Internet, no cell phone, limited menu of cable TV stations. It's nearly as close as you can get while staying outside the park. Rates quite reasonable for value and space. We were quite satisfied."

Rest of South Carolina Travel Tips

South Carolina Vacation Rentals Offer Diversity

Whether you are coming to South Carolina to visit the Upcountry’s rolling mountains or the Low Country’s Atlantic coastline, you will find the perfect South Carolina vacation rentals. The rentals will be packed with amenities that you just cannot find in the grandest of hotels. These idyllic homes will be close to waterfalls, the beach and everything in between so that you really feel as though you are living the genteel southern life. You will experience private decks or patios, bedrooms for everyone in your family, fully equipped kitchens and room to lounge. If you are staying in the Upcountry, you could watch wildlife while eating your breakfast or see a dolphin frolic in the waves of the Atlantic. Nothing is out of bounds with a spectacular home rental.

Low Country Beaches at South Carolina Cottages

Picture you and your family in South Carolina cottages at Edisto Beach, Folly Beach or Kiawah Island. These are just some of the wonderful destinations you can stay in when your family rents a cottage in these areas around Charleston. If you do not want to wiggle your toes in the sand from your front porch, you could stay in Charleston proper with all of the history it has to offer. The shot that started the Civil War was fired just off the battery of Charleston and it is a worthy day trip for history buffs. When you have a car in this area, you can visit Boone Hall Plantation with its famous tree-lined boulevard leading to the plantation home. When shopping in this region, you'll find many handcrafted items that have been handed down for generations. Dining will bring you fresh seafood and sweet delights like the praline.

Upcountry Adventures from South Carolina Vacation Houses

The waterfalls of the Upcountry bring visitors back to South Carolina vacation houses year after year. There are two waterfalls of Whitewater Falls that succeed in dividing North and South Carolina from each other. Be sure to bring your camera along from your vacation house to get a picture of these magnificent falls especially if you come in the fall when the trees are ablaze with color. Food in this area is ripe for the picking with sweet peaches and apples. Pick up a jar of homemade preserves or apple cider to enjoy at your rental. For a true southern meal, add a bowl of grits that you can purchase from many of the roadside stands or quaint shops. Shopping in the Upcountry is a unique experience with handcrafted pottery from the shops in Edgefield or Pickens. They have been making their pottery the same way since the 1800s; if you are lucky, you can see these craftsmen in action as they throw the clay on the potter’s wheel. While you are in this area of South Carolina, visit the town of Abbeville known as the “Birthplace of the Confederacy,” with its historic Burk-Stark Mansion where Jefferson Davis first spoke of seceding from the Union.

Lakes Abound Near South Carolina Homes

Just about an hour from Charleston, South Carolina is an area full of beautiful lakes. These comfortable, spacious homes offer stunning views of the sunsets on the water. Family and friends can spend a lazy summer day sipping lemonade and playing in the sandy shallows of Lake Moultrie. Many of these homes are directly on the lake so that it is easy to boat, jet ski, swim or fish. You could even catch a prize winning fish to grill on your private deck as you wind down from a great day in the outdoors. If you want a bit of adventure, you could take in Cypress Gardens, Wannamaker Water Park or other places nearby. Dining blends fresh seafood from the coast with the cuisine of the lake and Blackwater river area. Shopping is close to many of the vacation homes or just a short drive to Charleston.
