Rest of South Carolina Travel Tips

South Carolina Vacation Rentals Offer Diversity

Whether you are coming to South Carolina to visit the Upcountry’s rolling mountains or the Low Country’s Atlantic coastline, you will find the perfect South Carolina vacation rentals. The rentals will be packed with amenities that you just cannot find in the grandest of hotels. These idyllic homes will be close to waterfalls, the beach and everything in between so that you really feel as though you are living the genteel southern life. You will experience private decks or patios, bedrooms for everyone in your family, fully equipped kitchens and room to lounge. If you are staying in the Upcountry, you could watch wildlife while eating your breakfast or see a dolphin frolic in the waves of the Atlantic. Nothing is out of bounds with a spectacular home rental.

Low Country Beaches at South Carolina Cottages

Picture you and your family in South Carolina cottages at Edisto Beach, Folly Beach or Kiawah Island. These are just some of the wonderful destinations you can stay in when your family rents a cottage in these areas around Charleston. If you do not want to wiggle your toes in the sand from your front porch, you could stay in Charleston proper with all of the history it has to offer. The shot that started the Civil War was fired just off the battery of Charleston and it is a worthy day trip for history buffs. When you have a car in this area, you can visit Boone Hall Plantation with its famous tree-lined boulevard leading to the plantation home. When shopping in this region, you'll find many handcrafted items that have been handed down for generations. Dining will bring you fresh seafood and sweet delights like the praline.

Upcountry Adventures from South Carolina Vacation Houses

The waterfalls of the Upcountry bring visitors back to South Carolina vacation houses year after year. There are two waterfalls of Whitewater Falls that succeed in dividing North and South Carolina from each other. Be sure to bring your camera along from your vacation house to get a picture of these magnificent falls especially if you come in the fall when the trees are ablaze with color. Food in this area is ripe for the picking with sweet peaches and apples. Pick up a jar of homemade preserves or apple cider to enjoy at your rental. For a true southern meal, add a bowl of grits that you can purchase from many of the roadside stands or quaint shops. Shopping in the Upcountry is a unique experience with handcrafted pottery from the shops in Edgefield or Pickens. They have been making their pottery the same way since the 1800s; if you are lucky, you can see these craftsmen in action as they throw the clay on the potter’s wheel. While you are in this area of South Carolina, visit the town of Abbeville known as the “Birthplace of the Confederacy,” with its historic Burk-Stark Mansion where Jefferson Davis first spoke of seceding from the Union.

Lakes Abound Near South Carolina Homes

Just about an hour from Charleston, South Carolina is an area full of beautiful lakes. These comfortable, spacious homes offer stunning views of the sunsets on the water. Family and friends can spend a lazy summer day sipping lemonade and playing in the sandy shallows of Lake Moultrie. Many of these homes are directly on the lake so that it is easy to boat, jet ski, swim or fish. You could even catch a prize winning fish to grill on your private deck as you wind down from a great day in the outdoors. If you want a bit of adventure, you could take in Cypress Gardens, Wannamaker Water Park or other places nearby. Dining blends fresh seafood from the coast with the cuisine of the lake and Blackwater river area. Shopping is close to many of the vacation homes or just a short drive to Charleston.
