  • Perfect relaxing vacation on the lake!

"Our family had a wonderful vacation in September at this beautiful home. There was plenty of room for 3 generations of family members to spread out and make ourselves feel at home with many details to make it warm and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked and enjoyable to stay there to cook instead of wasting time away from the lake at restaurants. The lake is beautiful; clear and clean. We caught fish, rented a boat to go see the waterfalls and explore the lake, and swam right off of the dock. Having a fire at the beach to share s'mores was a wonderful memory. Thank you Jim and Diane for graciously sharing your home to make this a perfect relaxing vacation on the lake!"

  • Clemson weekend

"I was the organizer for our annual trip to Clemson with 2 other families. This house provided the grownups private rooms and the kids had a ball in the basement. The water was still warm enough for swimming which was a plus. This is a very nice and clean house. Great open water and great views. The location is great - close to Clemson and close to lots of places to hike. We all had a great time and would love to rent this place again."

  • Great book club retreat!

"Eight members of my book club enjoyed this house for a long weekend. The house is beautiful and the setting is great! There was plenty of room for everyone to lounge around together and chat, or be alone if so desired. It was clean and the description is accurate. The owner is very responsive and obviously plans ahead (having an extra tank for the grill, for instance). It has probably the most well-appointed kitchen of any house we've ever been to. Impressive. It is just a little odd that for a house that sleeps about a dozen people the dining room table only seats six. Among other activities, we swam in the lake, enjoyed the view from the deck, played pool and soaked in the hot tub. The only thing that slightly marred our stay was one night three of us went out to the hot tub at around 10:45 and stayed in for about 35 minutes. There's a "good neighbor" policy in the area (houses are fairly close together) that demands no loud noises after 11:00, and one neighbor thought we were too loud. So we do not recommend you use the hot tub after 11 (the pump is loud and it's impossible to have a conversation in a normal voice) unless you want to get yelled at. A few other things potential renters should be aware of: The driveway is very steep, as is the walk to the lake. There is no trash pickup, so you must take your trash to the dump or take it home with you. But these were minor irritations, and there's nothing that can be done about those! All in all, a great vacation home."

  • Guys Weekend

"We came to this house for a guys weekend, and it was GREAT! We brought kayaks and used the canoe there to explore and play on the lake. We fished, cooked, and relaxed - just what we needed. The house was has nice rustic architecture with an open feel with plenty of room for large parties (we had 8). Yet you could always get away from the crowd if you needed your own space in the bedrooms. The location was also great! We ventured out to Highlands, NC, was close to the Chatooga river, and saw Issaqueena falls and Stumphouse tunnel. The owner was always an email away if we had any questions and answered quickly. (PS there isn't cell service there with Verizon, but we were allowed to used the house line for long distance at no extra charge - that was a big help!) Will definitely recommend this place to those looking for a great mix of peace and quiet and activities."
