  • Perfect for a Large Group!

"I wanted to plan a reunion trip to a Clemson football game with many other friends, but was having trouble finding a home large enough to accommodate our group. I was beginning to look at renting two smaller homes when I found this listing. John is a wonderful owner; he is very prompt, friendly and informative if you have any questions about the property. I booked the trip and the house was better than I could have ever imagined - The house is massive inside! The bedrooms are set up well, and the two kitchens and living rooms are wonderful. There are plenty of bathrooms and the house was clean with tons of linens. Everyone was comfortable during our stay! The dock was perfect for our rental pontoon, and the location is very close to campus. I am extremely happy with how everything worked out, and cannot wait to rent this property again!"

  • Amazing!

"We found the perfect place for our weekend getaway: The Hummingbird Cottage. It was absolutely amazing with everything we were looking for and more! Very quiet and peaceful, yet only a free minutes from town. The owners of this beautiful cottage offer everything from a fully functional kitchen, a ready to use grill and comfortable beds to a wonderful pool (diving board and fun water slide included!), life jackets, pool toys, floats and cabana. The indoor game room had a lot to offer. Between the site hockey table, Foosball table and various board games, there is always something fun to do. This was our first visit to the Hummingbird Cottage and we are already looking forward to returning again and again."

  • Clemson Football Weekend

"Great house for a Clemson football weekend. Good size, clean home, but the draw for our group was definitely the large outside patio, fireplace and TV. Great spot for everyone to hang out. Everything in Anderson you could possibly need is a minute away. Very nice community. The owner does an outstanding job of communicating and provides very detailed instructions for everything about the home."

  • Jacqui

"This was a very nice location. The house is beautiful, the area was quiet. The first night there we had a family of deer pass by the back of the house. The children were excited to see the deer. Even though the temperature outside was very cool we actually caught fish in the lake (small mouth bass). We had a wonderful time, enjoyed our stay, and would recommend this property."

Upcountry Travel Tips

South Carolina Upcountry Lodging in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains

Set in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, South Carolina Upcountry vacation rentals are found in a wonderful location. The "Upcountry" is made up of the counties of Oconee, Pickens, Greenville, Anderson, Spartanburg and Cherokee. Visitors to this unique paradise may wish to use Greenville/Spartanburg airport which is served by most major airlines. For those looking to drive here, the region has excellent major roads with I-85 running through the area, connecting to I-385. There are also several highways, such as US 123 (Calhoun Memorial Highway), US 25, US 29 and US 279.

The Upcountry of South Carolina has less subtropical weather than the coast, with hot summer temperatures averaging between the mid-80s to high-90s Fahrenheit. Winters fall below freezing but rain is more likely than snow.

Wonder at the Waterfalls of South Carolina

With at least 25 waterfalls around these South Carolina Upcountry lake rentals, visitors may find at least two vacations here are required to explore them all. Each and every one is well worth the effort it takes to get to them, ranging from an easy hike up to difficult climbs. The Brasstown Falls is a moderately difficult hike, with the reward of three waterfalls. For the more adventurous, head to Long Creek Falls. This 1.6-mile unofficial trail may not be well-marked but the 50-foot cascade is worth the effort. Those seeking a moderately easy walk will find the waterfall at the Station Cove Historic Site is a nice one to start with. An added bonus is the wonderful wildflowers and rare plants growing along the way.

Explore the Mountains, Parks and Towns

There is much to keep even the most demanding visitor occupied around South Carolina Upcountry lake rentals. The obvious attractions are the outdoor activities such as hiking, biking and climbing. However, there is much more on offer in this wonderful region. If visitors want a thrill to remember, the whitewater rafting is amazing! The State Parks here are all worth visiting, with great recreation activities, trails to be explored and lakes to be fished.

Among the many parks is Keowee-Toxaway State Natural Area. This area, with its incredible vistas of the Blue Ridge and woods brimming with wildflowers, rhododendrons, mountain laurel and more, is seriously breathtaking. Here, visitors can hike the trails through the 50,000 acres of undisturbed, protected land to view the 2,000-foot fall where the Blue Ridge Mountains lead to the Piedmont below.

No trip to South Carolina Upcountry vacation rentals will be complete without a visit to Devils Fork State Park. Why? Because it is the only public access to Lake Jocassee, an undeveloped 7,500-acre reservoir hidden deep in the Blue Ridge. This area is great for lakeside fishing, boating, and even scuba diving. While here, visitors should keep the camera handy; they might spot one of the black bears that live here. Hiking the nature trails, visitors should also keep an eye out for the bald eagles and peregrine falcons that swoop through the bright blue skies.

Turkeys and Bobcats and Bears! Oh My!

Imagine waking in your chosen South Carolina Upcountry lodging to watch the wildlife--turkeys, wild boar, deer, racoon and, if you are very lucky, a bear--within an easy drive to the nearest town. These spacious properties provide everything you need to make your dream vacation. Many come with extras such as hot tubs, DVDs and games systems. Visitors with four-legged family members will find a choice of properties that cater to them too. No one is overlooked!
